Current rate GE can only deliver 2 engines a month . so this year we will get 10 or lucky 12 engines . the blame should be on our side we are keep on doing this lazy sloth business , lethargic attitude kahi nahi jayega they will open the shop overnight once we place orders and they will churn engine and give it to us in weeks .
Same happened wit our C-17 procurement too when Boeing clearly said its shutting down the production line if no further orders are coming and finished the last 11 aircraft's and we were able to scrape through getting the last one after some begging . if our baboons had moved little faster we could have got all the 11 but then again same short sighted vision and hardly any planning .
I won't be surprised we keep on doing this AMCA AMCA stuff till 2035 and then IAF and Govt will ask LM to take order for F-35 when they might have shut down the production .. Then someone will come with master stroke like we will get F-35 production line here in india when no one in the world would be interested to buy that jet , Same like we getting F-21 aka F-16 production line with HAL for MRCA deal
Every US jet will come with stipulations on how it can be used. It would be worse than burning the money. The US has clearly shown it's not reliable. They will use maintenance and parts as leverage for strategic control.
We only have one viable option that is Su57, no matter it's flaws.
