Small Arms and Weapons (5 Viewers)

when MCIWS was just announced back then, this was first ever 'picture' of that supposed multi-calibre rifle thing that came out in news

just...look at this...and ponder
>Tavor-esque build?
>magazine is much narrower than STANAG one that goes on Tavor or even X-95, but profile is longer
>that...UBGL there? seems so similar to what we are seeing nowadays as IWI GL-40
>literal thumbhole grip design on a bullpup?

well we all know how this said MCIWS came to be, totally not like this,

but this matchbox sized pic makes me think that perhaps this was so famed Zittara 5.56x30mm MINSAS chambered carbine that was build upon then version of X-95 or so, perhaps only pic out there, baki toh koi OFB wala hi bata sakta hai

Was talking to a friend about Indian small arms and shared the carbine story. He said, “You should write about it.” So I will detailed article coming soon.
But first, a heartfelt thank you to General Upendra Dwivedi and the Indian Army.

There was a time when the Caracal carbine deal was almost sealed. But the Army hit pause.
Even though Indian private firms were late in acquiring the tech, it became clear they could produce better weapons than OFB same cost, superior quality control.

The Army took a hit on readiness, scrapped the deal, and backed Indian industry.
Now, around 4 lakh DRDO-designed carbines will be made by Bharat Forge.
