Arihant Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarines (4 Viewers)

This article says that the submarine is 75% indigenous content. How many critical components can be manufactured in India? 75% is pretty freaking bad IMO for a weapon such as a nuclear submarine...
Arihant class submarines are nothing but extended and modified kilo class submarine , since these were designed in 90s, indigenous content is limited, due to limited know how back then, initially even hulls were made from imported russian analog of hy-80 steel, not surprisng sice arihant class is our first submarine of any kind, though with times percentage of indigenious components have incresed future nuclear submarines like p77 class will have over 97% indigenious content.

Analysis of the few photograph available confirm that some aspects of Arihant bear a strong resemblance to the Kilo Class. The upper sonar dome on top of the bow and many aspects of the sail are visually identical. And the hull diameter appears to match. In essence, the forward hull and sail are essentially similar to the Kilo Class. This makes some sense as India purchased 10 Kilos which are known as the Sindhughosh Class in service.

Overall the arrangement of the system is the same as the Russian systems originally fitted to the Kilo. However the intercept sonars in the trailing edge of the sail are arranged one above the other. This may explain the different shape of the sonar window seen there on the Arihant.
One visible difference between the bow on Arihant and the Kilo Class is the torpedo tube arrangement. Arihant’s are set lower. This indicates some internal differences and confirms that it is not literally a Kilo hull.

Please mate no one has seen complete hull of arihant. Arihant is bigger than kilo. Above are speculations based on fant art and grain pictures so take such assessment with grain of salt. It may resemble Russian submarines coz designer was russian, but calling it stretched kilo is laughable.

Need to do better protecting these assets. How do the Americans, Russians, and Chinese do it?
Varsha. Project Varsha phase 1 is nearing completion. The underground pens built under hills will safeguard these strategic assets from bombing or other espionage/ sabotage activities. We have to expedite project Varsha and move these strategic assets to Varsha from Vizag. Vizag is den filled with foreign spies keeping an eye on our naval HQ base.

Good news for Indian Navy's SSBN fleet: DRDO is finishing up the work on K6 hypersonic SLBM. It will have a speed of 7.5mach. It will have a range of 8000+KM. K6 is an upgrade on K5 and it will be deployed on Arihant class SSBNs.

8000+km icbm with speed of Mach 7.5?
The fuck?
With that range it's Agni 5/6 equivalent.
It will go up 500-1000km in altitude/space before coming down for than range, it's RV will attain mach 25-35.

Seems like a weapon made to deter China...I mean we can target their ports with this. I wonder if the RV will be a MaRV or not?

Boost phase speed
So what could be the speed mid course and re-entry phase? Are there any calculators or simulators to find this out? Ik there are equations.

Theoretically if/when S5 is deployed, do we still need to develop land launched ICBMs or can we go the French way with only SLBM?
More options are almost always good. French have different scenario to face. Our scenario is different. France is a NATO country and it only has to focus on a dyad to counter China. Unlike us who has to deal with both Pakistan & China.

SLBM is your backup. It cannot be your main stay of nuclear deterrence. France can afford to do that by relying solely on SLBM because well they are part of NATO. Which country is foolish to attack another NATO country that too a powerful country like France with a nuke tipped ICBM?

India does not have the same luxury. We need to have back up for a back up in every scenario. Imagine we didn't have multi layered air defense system and instead relied only on S400 in Operation Sindoor? That would not be efficient use of our resources. We need land, air and sea based deterrence.
