A friend of mine recovered a large Chinese military drone near the Nepal border — it had landed autonomously due to low battery. He took it to a local electronics repair shop, had it disassembled, and replaced the original avionics with a custom system built using a Raspberry Pi. He mounted it inside the drone using some 3D-printed parts and managed to fly it using his laptop as a controller, connected to the internet. So maybe these things aren’t as high-tech as we’re led to believe.

The UTTAM AESA radar is already in production by Godrej Aerospace, but it still needs to be integrated with the DRDO-developed electronic warfare suite, Raksha Kavach. HAL is currently focused on avoiding further delays in the Tejas program. Perhaps, once the first 40 Tejas Mk1A aircraft are delivered, HAL will have the confidence to begin integrating UTTAM with Raksha Kavach. However, it’s unclear how long this integration process might take.

When will Elta need an order for radar 41 onwards to avoid a delay in Mk1A production? Order 20 more now to be safe?

They are correct since it would take time for ((( integration ))) per Dassault and push delivery timelines.
Which is why Navy was ok with Uttam being dropped in favour to the RBE2 default.

The problem here is the Dassault will quote obscene sums and give long winded timelines for integration on purpose just so that a "competitor" radar is not installed.

It is a conflict of interest issue

Another issue would be weapon integration of the other kind. + Uttam might make some issue with Rafale's EW suite. That is a whole different kind of mess, that DA guy doesn't wanna go with. DA guys will demand absurd amount of money for it. Tbh which is justified because it is not an easy work. French systems are designed to complement each other and then you add something else that is going to create a lot of issue. Aside from the usual conflict of interest issue you mentioned.

And I doubt IN, the step child of MoD has that much money for this modification. So I guess they are fine with french radar.

That would be a blunder, having MRTT is one thing but AEW&Cs and refueller 2 in 1, if this is the case then IAF has many "tejaswi" people too.

They want to copy the Chinese probably. Those guys have such systems. But they produce their own aircraft, so they have the freedom to do such experiments..

If they want that they should atleast try to get local production of some refueller..

I will be honest. They should be practical. They are trying to shoot above our weight. Our civil aviation manufacturing sector is still fledgling. So they need to tone down their star war era demands and be happy with whatever practically possible for us. Just get enough AEW&Cs, refuellers and tankers. That's it no need to do this drama over jack of all trade aircraft. Which might take ages to come.

mf used to bring out clickbaits every single day, i have been reading idrw since 2022, and that time everyday he used to publish article that amca prototype rollout in 2023, then in 2023 he used to say by 2024, then finally i stumbled upon dfi and sf, although used to visit once in a fortnight just for amca and mk2 news, because idrw is the mosted trusted defence news site

idk who is the source for defence matrix that he reported that 83 mk1a will come with 2052, i thought the order for uttam has been already placed with astra mw. sometimes alpha and matrix both give clickbaits so that their viewership doesnt decline

or if you want to give another jiziya to dolund then get kc135, but i bet my bank account of 5k that burgers wont deliver it till 2030s, you would have to fight against porks with 0 refuellers, because muh vodkaland illusion aircrafts have such a brilliant availability rate

If C-17 lease or purchase (used or new ones with production restart) is not an option then add A-400M to the list as well.

Re KC-135, wet lease option is available from Metrea, they have around 10 of them so IAF could get 5-6 of them. Not sure if their KC-135 have Drogue refueling system.

it would be much better to buy the blueprints from antonov and give it to pvt firms for production and let drdo do experiments on it with awacs or refueller or anything.

but in reality it would be better to acquire c390 in medium transporter category, they are in need of money and would even offer local manufacturing, but c17 class cargo plane is difficult, illusion aircrafts have spares and availability issues, and c17 is out of production, iaf can check out il476 but those wouldnt be much of a next level upgrade to il76, there isnt any competitor to c17, or maybe we should request dolund to restart c17 production as jiziya

but in reality it would be better to acquire c390 in medium transporter category

A400m are proposed to be upgraded to reach 40ton payload capacity on sea level, which is pretty good to transport light tank to &from( payload capacity decreases a lot in high altitude regions) high altitude regions, plus future IFV will be 25+ tons, unlike ~15ton bmp2.
C390 have 26 ton max payload capacity, so it will barely be able to transport light tank and ifv's from sea level runways, but you would also want to transport additional supplies, maintinence equipment along with it too.

With no idea of when our fleet stratigic lifters(c17 category) will increase, it's better to change our medium category lifter role to medium-large category, able to atleast transport light tanks, and future ifvs into high altitude region.
