Indian Infrastructure & Discussion (5 Viewers)

Nicobar needs a large tri-forces base along with living facilities for their families.
They are also building a proper city there but these armed forces families should be the nucleus.

My point is we need to settle lots of people there.
dont we have a tri forces theatre command there? i think i saw something related to it in 2021-22, that it was the only theatre command

I have one question why has it never occurred to the Government of India, or its earlier iterations, to develop and strengthen PSUs in the construction sector? Strangely, they have invested in areas like high-tech aviation, where state-run enterprises arguably shouldn't be the primary players, yet they are completely absent in basic, large-scale infrastructure tasks like local road-laying or civil construction. These aren't technologically complex undertakings; they're standardized, repetitive, and process-driven precisely the kind of tasks PSUs are capable of executing efficiently. While PSUs may not be outstanding successes across the board, they also aren't total failures, and for non-high-tech, routine projects, they can certainly deliver results.

Asking this because of constant randi-rona on twitter regarding crumbling infra.

We don't need PSU for this. What we need is to ensure Contractors were adhering to proper IRC standards. NHAI allowing roads without VUP, allowing an 90 degree road intersection. F**king zebra crossing on an 4 lane road. Also they watered down certain design specs like removing shoulders which is dangerous design and calling them as Economic corridor. Also poor geometrical road design is there. We got recent 90 degree turn bridge.

Roadkari only whines about this and do not take action. Meanwhile City level roads needs to upgraded as to modern standards similar to GIFT City roads.

they exist. IRCON, NBCC, RAILTEL, EIL, power grid corporation of India etc.
B.R.O is a department not a company, and they undertake some of the most challenging infra projects in the world.

since private sector is able to manage large projects, unlike say 40 years ago, gormint PSU's are being scaled back and limited to strategic sectors. in another 50 years, if private sector shows discipline towards protecting national interests, remaining PSUs too can be scaled back.

the ones that are remaining in infra space are asset management organisations like railways, NHAI, airports authority etc. managing gormint assets.

more over large infra projects is mostly about infra project management, raising finances and subcontracting even for private companies.

Ya'll Nibbiars the NIA is getting issues One after another,

1 . First wrong operator Zurich.

2 . The simple design with no Eleveated road and less number of jet bridges.

3 . And choosing Chinese steel over Indian by Zurich.

4 . The fourth due to that construction getting delayed,

5 . And now effectively demolishing economic growth around the airport.

How not to built a airport 101.

With this 10 KM construction ban is effectively destroyed, construction happen all across the world within few meters of Airport this is pure BS and nothing else.

They are restraining legal construction everyone knows how obtaining NOC from AAI, DGCA and other regulators is almost impossible in this case and illegal will still construct without fear of the law due to obvious reasons. So this will only stop the organized development and will encourage unauthorized ones.

can we cancel the agreement with zurich somehow? even aai did better work in patna airport with elevated road. imagine if adani gets the noida airport and hires zaha hadid for further terminal designs. this place can become an international travel hub.

I just read tweets on this news. What are the rules for Airports in other cities?

Ya'll Nibbiars no rules absolutely none, here just the regular DGCA height limitations, other than that no NOC regained at all, now with new rules even that height premission not required for a building upto 180 meter.

4 terminals of delhi + 4 of noida + 1 of ghaziabad(hindon) = 9 terminals for delhi ncr 💀
Ya'll Nibbiars 2 Terminals of CSMIA + 4 Terminala of DBPIA + 3 Terminals of VIA for the MMR.

problem is that IRC specifications itself is a primitive document, especially for modern expressways, based on outdated designs. What kind of modern road design guideless will allow for 3.5m lane width and unpaved shoulders for a so called "expressway"? Let's not even get started on municipal road designs. On top of that, there is 0 enforcement of the guidelines, and contractors are rarely penalized for not meeting specifications

We are seeing contractors who are not adhering to that IRC standards, even though they are outdated. But geometrical flaws needs common sense more than standards. We can only say fat babu getting bribes and building mansion at his hometown.

Recently near my house, roads were relaid, end result, the road height is increased by 15 cm. On this rate, may be next 5 years, it will gain 1 feet.
