It would be nice, it is long overdue, for India to make a formal statement that the British aided and abetted, at the least connived at, the Pakistani invasion of North Kashmir. And thus bear some responsibility for the carnage that took place. It is puzzling that India hasn't really said anything on this issue. The Pakistani military and fanatic, murderous tribesmen were the principal villains, but is there any doubt that the British played some perfidious role in the invasion?
