This development here is extremely significant. With SM already firmly in the hands of the West read the US & only China mounting some sort of a challenge, this is another arena where the West especially the US is planning to extend its hegemony over for the future - near & long term whereas we don't even even have a half decent policy going in any of the above listed subjects leave alone anything on the ground.

Coupled with Biden's tech apartheid regarding SMCs, the stage is set to divide the world into digital have & have nots.

deepseek is not the whole story though, Gen AI is not only restricted to text related tasks, for playing with matrices which is base for all visual and audio related Generations huge amount of GPU based processing power is required.

I think here issue was american tech corporations are caught while fckin a goat which will further dampen thr trust levels around the world …

chinese would not have did this if they were part of high end chip supply chains to west though … anyway for India it doesn’t help us anyway we are neither in Gen AI race nor in chip race

Why do you think American cos didnt know text LLMs can be trained with much less resources?

It was definitely win win collaboration between chip giants and Open AI.

But to reach the level of video generation ai which can basically be able to create realistic looking story and emotions definitely Stargate is required

6 million is the training budget not the infra cost.
