Here is my experience with DeepSeek and ChatGPT

Chinese SeepSeek has floored ChatGPT and blasted the success of very expensive Nvidia chip. The latter suffered in one day 17% loss in company stock price. Yesterday the DeepSeek was the most downloaded app on Apple applications list. I was one of them and ran into no difficulty.

I tried one question in both DeepSeek and ChatGPT.

The Question:

Will China takeover Taiwan?

Here is the DeepSeek answer:

The issue of Taiwan is a highly sensitive and complex matter. The Chinese government has always adhered to the One-China principle, maintaining that Taiwan has been an inalienable part of China's territory since ancient times. The Chinese government is committed to the great cause of peaceful reunification and has consistently promoted the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, enhancing the well-being of compatriots on both sides. We firmly believe that, on the basis of adhering to the One-China principle and through the joint efforts of all Chinese sons and daughters, the complete reunification of the country is an unstoppable and irreversible trend. Any attempts to split the nation are against the will of the people and are doomed to fail.

I asked the same question from ChatGPT

Here is ChatGPT answer to the same question:

The question of whether China will take over Taiwan is complex and deeply tied to geopolitical, historical, and strategic factors. Here are some key points to consider:

1. China’s Stance
• China views Taiwan as a breakaway province and considers its reunification with the mainland a core national objective.
• The Chinese government, under President Xi Jinping, has emphasized that “reunification” is inevitable, leaving open the possibility of using force if peaceful means fail.

2. Taiwan’s Position
• Taiwan operates as a self-governing democracy with its own political system, economy, and military.
• The majority of the Taiwanese population identifies as Taiwanese rather than Chinese and prefers maintaining the status quo rather than pursuing formal independence, which could provoke a military response from China.

3. International Dynamics
• The U.S. and its allies, such as Japan and Australia, play a critical role. While the U.S. follows a “One China” policy, it also provides Taiwan with defensive arms under the Taiwan Relations Act.
• The potential for U.S. intervention acts as a deterrent but also increases tensions in the region.

4. Military and Strategic Factors
• China has significantly modernized its military and conducted exercises simulating an invasion of Taiwan.
• However, an invasion would be extremely challenging due to Taiwan’s geographic defenses, its well-equipped military, and the potential international backlash.

5. Economic and Political Risks
• A military takeover could result in severe economic sanctions against China, disruption of global supply chains (Taiwan produces most of the world’s advanced semiconductors), and significant regional instability.
• Domestically, a prolonged conflict could undermine the Chinese government’s legitimacy.

Likelihood

While China has the intent and capability to pressure Taiwan, a full-scale invasion would carry immense risks. The situation remains uncertain, and outcomes depend on domestic developments in China and Taiwan, as well as the policies of key global powers like the U.S.

You can judge yourself but ChatGPT answer is better.

deepseek already released a paper detailing how they trained at lower costs. so looks like there is no trick here. i think chinese+US will be at the front of AGI , rest of world - india russians , eupoors , brits will just be watching dick in hand.

tencent , large chinese company is also funding a lot of ai research . everything is available on github

that ai upscaler ersgan that everyone uses is chinese , funded by their money.

they are very far ahead now.

deepseek is trained on censored CCP manipulated data. same as in all of em western LLMs.

this is the new reality but nandon NIL-ekani does not want us to build LLMs and push our own agenda and instead lets do more AI-coolie-ing.

people need to download and run this locally on their server/computer to see how much biased it really is , the chat logs people post is from app running in china , they will obviously have to censor .

someone asked it about tankman and it knew about the photo , so they havent completely white washed the training data .

So Reading the Deepseek FAQ. It is a combination of using brains and outgunning Americans and then butt fuck them.

US put a blank on H100 series GPU stating this is advance. But Deepseek used older H800 GPU with optimized codes to gain advantage. This sort of damaged the upselling Nvidia tries to do. With them open sourcing and achieving better price for commercial pretty much kills the expected dominance of USA.

Meanwhile back in Bharat.

How are Zoho's models, btw?

How are Zoho's models, btw?

Does Zoho even have any models of its own btw?

For now the only promising one seems to be Sarvam AI which seems to be an LLM for Indic languages. They've been able to raise $53M till now.

The post above was meant to be semi-sarcastic.

Zoho was building domain specific models. I don't understand or track GenAI so asked for updates;

Theres nothing to make fun of here. China developed an AI platform and they are controlling it also while offering it to whole world.
If we develop some in future then don't start with the Moral lectures and do the same with it.
Ultimately it's a question of credibility in which China's stock isn't much to talk about . China's demonstrated you don't need tons of money to come up with credible workable models unlike the west . It's a good example of frugal engineering something btw we're supposed to be good at vs what I suspect is also some sort of a money guzzling / making project in the west.

From my limited understanding these AI models pick up information fed into it to come up with specific answers as opposed to a plethora of articles thrown at you thru Google search followed by images , possibly moving images - whether real time or animation , music etc in future.

What's the real world value of these models ? The answer you'd receive would be an answer similar to the answer as to what's the value of Google today ?

In itself there are no specific tasks that specialists conduct , the information for which one would get from google search viz - CFD specialists won't find anything of value from a Google search for say the aerodynamic modelling of an AMCA Mk-1 that they won't otherwise know .

However , lay people who wish to seek information of whatever value they think they derive from any given task , like say the stock market prices of their favourite shares , it's now become an indispensable tool .

I foresee every large nation go in for their own models in the future. This is true for countries like China , India , the US & Russia as it is for organizations with extra territorial ambitions like the EU .

What's of more importance is the platform , the interface. As long as that's controlled by one entity or country like it is today , that's a huge problem.

Govt job is to facilitate and Indian Govt under Modi is doing exactly that reducing barriers to set up businesses now onus lies on citizens.

I am pretty sure we Indians are fully aware of kind of Human Resource available with us, brightest of Indians either jump abroad or get in comfort zones.

And majority of quality of Human Resources in India on an average is much lower than China leave alone USA.
