There's probably no military in the world that would have an alternative solution to a terrain related problem similar to this one. NATO(read USA) here would just drop in a couple of MK82/MK83 JDAMs and call it a day. Rest would have to send bodies in.

Looks like they got ambushed by IED (see the crater & broken rock near the Ts head). Also burn / mutiliation on the body.

Seems like SF got intel of their route and set up IEDs on the path.
