The fact of the matter is that, they won't even procure Javelin - not in significant numbers anyway. Remember, you heard it here first.![]()
The situation for anti air and anti-armor missiles is absolutely pic related
For AAM you have Igla, Stinger, Starstreak( from al-Britaniya )
For Anti Armor you have Spike, Konkurs, Milan and now Javelin

Frankly I doubt we'd induct any . We've already a huge menagerie of such foreign anti armour missiles. Then there're at least a dozen Indian ones waiting in the wings to be inducted from both the DPSUs & Pvt Sector .The fact of the matter is that, they won't even procure Javelin - not in significant numbers anyway. Remember, you heard it here first.![]()
There are so many varieties of weapons of different country origin .... Remember when global war against Aliens begins they ll call Indian army to operate different weapon system from different countries . It ll lead the operation against aliens inspite of all Hollywood bravery of burger army .
Good attempt . Now check out the Bofors BAe Archer MGS below . Takes < 30 sec to deploy & exits in < 60 sex after firing 3 rounds. Fully automatic too .
Check out the aesthetics too & do note it takes a 2-3 men crew likely 2 to operate.

It's not as if we can't develop or deploy such a system which if not exactly at par with the Archer or superior to it falls within the same bandwidth but we choose not to for reasons unexplained .
Unlike in the past where such an model could be made available ~ 2 decades after it'd been introduced internationally given our technological backwardness , the good news is that we can manage such an iteration within the next 2 years if need be , but the bad news is we'd still take another ~ 2 decades before such a fully automatic MGS is inducted within the IA due to our mindset , apathy , bureaucracy etc .
Exactly...and as far as I know DRDO MGS will have dual capabilities 1) Fully Automatic control from inside the Armoured Cabin , 2)Semi Automatic control from outside cabin... Though I don't have any solid proof in support of my statement... So I may be wrong.Archer max range 30km with standard ammo. 50km with Excalibur round.
Drdo mgs 45+km with standard ammo.
Both are 155mm 52 calibre.
Bharat forge The MArG 45, a 155mm, 45 calibre mobile gun system, has a maximum range beyond 36 km using conventional ammunition.
For its faster shoot and scoot capabilities and requirement of less crew and not needing extra ground support, archer sacrificed it's bore, hence reducing it's range and fire power.
While I do think firing and setting up of drdo mgs can be more automated( but that will increase weight, and mgs is already at the limit of the weight allowed by army at 30 tons, due to its firepower requirement),
we ain't making it archer like, because indian army demands more range.
Archer, due to its automation is 33 tons, even with less range.
RIP MPATGM
Why they are ordering failed missile system , when indigenous solution is ready.

If they were serious they'd allow DRDO to get experienced, top class Indian talent from 5 places and pay them the salaries they deserve.
But no, muh ((( procedure ))) ka bhakt banna hai inko

Yeah like propulsion can be anything from Rocket engines, to ramjet engines to scramjet engines, pulse/rotatory detonation engine, piston engines, turbojet engines, turboshaft engines, turboprop engines, turbofan engines, electric propulsion like hall effect thrusters, nuclear propulsion, waterjet and pump jet, marine gas and steam turbines and marine diesel engines, fuel cell propulsion, electric motors for battery powered drones, internal combustion engines for land vehicles, apart from that Railway propulsions etc etc. Each with a specific use.Well I agree with you here. Our capabilities are still very limited. Hopefully as time goes on we improve. KMT probably had some inherent issues ig that's why Navy never went ahead with it. Somebody told me it had reliability issue, it produced the necessary power but was too heavy. And it was not reliably producing it.
You need to quote #5927 & explain that as well for your post contradicts the former in some ways.Apple and oranges comparison. Archer is literally a differently designed arty turret on the back of a specialised truck while mgs is just put arty cannon on back. Arty cannon vs arty turret. Arty turret is always gonna have higher fire rate. In action and out action time can be improved later on for Drdo mgs, not much difficult.
Archer is closer to these systems than the Drdo mgs

If only we had a renewed tracked sph programme by DRDO, we would have developed the auto loading and ammo handling system essential for above systems.
Anyway Drdo mgs is gonna be just way way cheaper.
