Can India and Pakistan Ever Settle Their Differences?
The answer, sadly, leans toward “never.” The conflict is no longer just about Kashmir. Pakistan’s deep-rooted jihadist culture teaches even young children that their destiny is to defeat Hindu Bharat (India) and reclaim Delhi for Islamic rule(Ghazwa-e-Hind)—echoes of a 700-year Islamic rule over India during medieval Muslim conquest. This mindset is reinforced in madrasas and persists across society—from the military to civilians.
This single-minded obsession with India has come at a cost. While Pakistan neglects science, education, and economic development, it has focused heavily on building a military aimed at confronting India. That mindset culminated in the May 2025 mini-war, where technologically advanced India outclassed Pakistan in all aspects—except in the Western media narrative. Still the loosing side Pakistani general promoted himself as ‘Field Marshall’.
India, now the world’s fourth-largest economy, has built a largely indigenous military and has defeated Pakistan four times in the past six decades. While some in Pakistan believe their nuclear weapons can neutralize India, Delhi has countered that with a robust multilayered air defence system.
India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty has further strained Pakistan’s economy, threatening it with severe drought. That alone could become a flashpoint, even if futile. As Pakistani obsession against India increases, India is not sitting idle and does everything to maximize pain on Pakistan. It is somewhat perpetual cold cum hot war.
In the end, as India rises economically and militarily, Pakistan remains trapped in a backward-looking dream—relying on external patrons and outdated ambitions. Peace remains a distant prospect.
