Death Squads Strike Fear in Terrorists Hiding in Pakistan
Since 2022, nearly 25 targeted killings in Pakistan have eliminated individuals linked to terror attacks on India. These individuals, often sheltered in Pakistan after orchestrating violence in India, now find themselves hunted by unknown assailants. Whether or not they received official protection remains unclear, but their whereabouts seemed easy to trace.
Since 1991, Pakistan has supported militancy in Kashmir and India, enabling terrorists to retreat to Pakistan when they avoided encounters with Indian forces. Groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba & Jaish-e- Mohammad often backed by Pakistani intelligence, incentivized militants with monetary rewards and promises of heavenly rewards for martyrdom. Public donations via mosques and anti-India rhetoric further fueled these terror networks, cultivating deep-seated hostility toward India among the Pakistani populace.
Over the past three decades, these terror campaigns have claimed nearly 20,000 lives—predominantly civilians, as well as military and police personnel. Despite this, Western media often framed these attacks as a “freedom struggle,” perpetuating Pakistan’s false narrative.
This dynamic shifted dramatically after India’s decisive responses to terror attacks, including the surgical strikes following the Uri incident in 2017 and the 2019 airstrikes on terror camps across the Line of Control. Though Pakistan denied casualties, these operations significantly disrupted terror infrastructure. Large-scale attacks subsequently dwindled, as reports suggested that many terrorists and their handlers had been neutralized.
Since 2020, Indian media has reported a series of assassinations of high-profile terrorists in Pakistan, executed by unknown gunmen who have evaded capture. These events hint at a new chapter in the fight against terror, one where those who once unleashed violence in India are now facing justice at their own homes.
