Germany

No not really. Eastern Europe to be precise. China is now pushing back and setting up industries here in Europe to circumvent tariffs on their products.

German auto industry is toast. China used to be a fall back option when sales in Europe were low, now that is no longer on the table. Not only German brands are slowly getting slaughtered in Chinese market, Chinese are bringing the war closer to home. Like you said they will set up industries in Europe to sell to Europeans. A 180 degree turn on the Europeans. German auto insiders are really one of the arrogant snobs out there. A Daimler board member laughed at Tesla when they entered the German market and praised German car brands.

They were never prepared for technological transformation of the auto industry. They were always high on diesel and petrol and snorting high bonuses. This is a true Nokia moment for German auto makers. Their survival is literally is in the hands of their government.

Perfectly explained!

Wasn't there a TBM manufactured in India a few years ago, it was mentioned and pictured on DFI.

the same company Herrenknecht, it's based out of chennai. goyal is saying to his german counterpart, chini blocked export of some important parts for TBM. apparently all active TBMs in the country are from Herrenknecht.

their chennai plant doesn't seem to have manufacturing capacity, as per old videos available on YT.

3 different Japanese companies manufacture TBMs- Hitachi, Kawasaki and Mitsubishi. One of them must have something India needs, and willing to sell. Don't tell me they all come from China as well

Yes, built by Herrenknecht with 60% localisation. Rest 40% needs to be imported which chinies aren't allowing apparently.

Honestly, Piyush should be more concerned about the likes of BEML or L&T not building them in India with indigenous IPRs despite the fact that we've achieved >60% localisation for HK's TBMs already.

BEML on its website showcase every single construction equipment at its arsenal. But till now never seen an BEML equipment's employed on Road constructions, never seen BEML showroom for selling this products.

Only seen TATA-Hitachi, JCB and other brands like Eicher.

Because they are too busy manufacturing rolling stock. Who do you think makes our Vande Bharat trains and upcoming Indian-made bullet train apart from ICF Chennai? Yes it's BEML .

Let's discuss it in some other thread.

Perhaps the pressure from oil and gas lobby?
