Isn't the Original Weight 1500 Kg including Afterburner? It was brought down to 1180 Kg. I believe there is a mistake. You can see the max* regarding weight there.Let's add afterburner section weight too then, it goes upto 300 kg plus.
1180 + 300, gives 1.4 ton total weight.
This new engine?! it might have changed fan tolerance design but I don't see though any change regarding weight with this.
It's basically same.
No, problem with weight, as you can see in the posters that were given by @Anants changes are mainly made to make it reliable.Isn't the Original Weight 1500 Kg including Afterburner? It was brought down to 1180 Kg. I believe there is a mistake. You can see the max* regarding weight there.
Hmmm. If it does even a 5% Air Maneuver then it's Airflow gets C*ckblocked. Look at that piling steam of mess called Okhotnik. Engine is visible from front, there is no S-Curve. Atleast the Chinese are not stubborn fools like Russkies who believe in their own copium.Won't the ghatak have a TVC ? Or will the prototype showup like the okhotnik with a circular exhaust ?
Okay I got the actual reason now. What we are seeing is Non-Afterburning Engine but also add on the Convergent Divergent Stealth Nozzle in case of Ghatak which adds weight. So the 1100 includes the weight of Nozzle also. If you remove that Nozzle Section and add afterburner it will have similar weight which is your regular Kaveri. No, problem with weight, as you can see in the posters that were given by @Anants changes are mainly made to make it reliable.
Now the only thing and perfection is missing the aerospace afterburner section, let's hope it works.
Significant changes in weight will only be seen when new engine is designed from ground up.
From what I understand AFB section of the Kaveri will be between 100-200 kgs. If we can shave off ~ 200 kgs from the dry version we can get a Kaveri with AFB weighing ~ 1100-1150 kgs . GE F-404 version we're getting is ~ 1075 kgs.It doesn't make sense. I have read in BRF, that 1500 Kg figure includes Afterburner which gradually shed it's fat to 1180kg. Hence you can see in the POSTER, there is *max caption beside weight indicating that overall weight is that figure but max indicates Afterburner also, otherwise it doesn't make sense. Only recently we picked that dry section apart to make a dry version for Ghatak. Otherwise all these years all the figures are for Dry+Wet Engine. It's just a mistake I think.
Dry Kaveri is around some 800-900 I think, but they added that Nozzle to it which is not the regular Circular looking thing found in regular turbofans but distinct curved looking thing for rear stealth. From what I understand AFB section of the Kaveri will be between 100-200 kgs. This kaveri derivative is for lca mk1a 85-80 kn right
We have immediate req for thease engine
But considering future with Tejas mk 2 , orca/tedbf and amca with 100-110 in class engine so aside from indo french jv on engine anything ongoing for thease engine even in early stage because there is not much devlopmmets on indo french jv
After learning from recent saga they should start working on engine for ge 414 replacement with 110 kn thrust with 5-6 gen capability by the time amca and lca mk 2 comes this engine may be still in devlopmmets (2030-35 ) but this engine will be there in mid life refit 2040-45 and will come in handy for us
If I am wrong please correct me
And I m no expert so
