GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri

I have a friend who is an Indian-American, very well trained PhD in MSE (material science engineering). I showed him the list of needed products and he said he's very familiar with a lot of them. But doesn't want to go to India because the salary is too low and he doesn't think the government takes R&D seriously enough to make it worth it for him.
Is he a Jew?

He is correct. There ain't no thousand talents program happening here.

Your friend is absolutely right.

Your friend wouldn't have to worry about salary if the Govt pursued this project with the seriousness it deserves.

Infrastructure, testing facilities, machines, top talent, ((( transfer of technology ))), stealing technology, reverse-engineering all face the bottlenecks of mostly money and a little time..

From what I understand we haven't mastered EBPVD although DMRL is working on it . The machines for this is also procured from the west - Germany to be precise. I'm getting conflicting information about it. One source claims we have it or if we don't we can get it while another claims we don't have them & Germany is sitting on our import requirement.

On a different note makes one wonder whether the Russians & the Chinese have them for this treatment is usually done to ensure uniform TBC application for temperatures above ~ 1500°C ?

However the usual YSZ coating a type of TBC which was / is still deployed with the method of application being PS - Plasma Spraying has issues both with the TBC material & mode of application .

One wonders if this is the explanation for the short TTSL of Russian TFs & by extension Chinese TFs since they're mostly derived from Russian TFs including the mfg processes.

Before busybodies jump up & down at the above piece of information on Russian & Chinese TFs , pls let me clarify I'm speculating.

Keep hunting out for nuggets of information. That's how we'd be able to connect the dots.

I've been pushing him really hard to take a professorship at IIT but he's refusing to even apply for the same reasons.

Chinese and Russians are posessing 4th gen engines as well asbadancing on 5th gen. Pretty theyvmust be hav8ng these techniques otherwise they won't be having 4th gen engines. There was nice chart shown in one of the recent IAH by DDR about chinese material and parts development timeline.

EBPVD is there is ARCI hyderabad but due to size constraints (as per tweet) they are only used for blades of helicoptercengine. Not much information on ARCI besides this:

Improvements in gas turbine performance

The objectives of this DST-EPSRC project, 'Improvements in gas turbine performance via novel plasma spray coatings offerings protection against ingested species', are to obtain improved understanding of how ingested species can cause degradation of the performance of ceramic coatings in gas turbines and to identify effective measures to counter these effects. Explore the scope for using variants of the conventional plasma spray process, notably Solution Precursor Plasma Spray and the over-spraying of "scavenging" outer layers, in order to counter sintering effects within protective coatings (promoted by ingested species) and hence to improve their thermo-mechanical stability is also the objective of this project. Identify the coating formulations with improved resistance to CMAS/VA-enhanced degradation through the use of rare earth zirconates based ceramic powders as well as solution precursor derived coatings are the targets of this project

Indigenous Development Of Thermal Barrier Coatings On High Pressure Turbine Rotor Blades For Helicopter Applications

Development of protective coatings for compressor blades and vanes using cylindrical cathodic arc PVD technique

The key objective of the project is to develop and demonstrate an indigenous erosive wear resistant coating for helicopter engine compressor blades and vanes. An optimized TiN coating was developed using Cathodic Arc Physical Vapor Deposition (CA-PVD) technique and supplied 510 no.’s of coated blades and vanes for field testing. The coated blades/vanes successfully completed 300 h of flying and RCMA Chandigarh has issued the final clearance for ARCI TiN coatings.

Well i say its just an excuse, this time govt is so hungry that if someone give govt clear vision , govt will be ready to invest.

Govt need to talk with tata, reliance & adani and from partnership company on aero-engine development.
Pvt body will expedite the development process and fund backed by govt.

In this way we able to get aeroengine.

See, even if the government manages to convince a private partner to develop the engine to match the parameters that are required by the forces, there's yet another factor of whether or not the developed engines would be ordered. With what confidence will they build engines if they aren't sure if it would be ordered at all? Tata already faced a blow with Kestrel being ordered in such abysmal quantities. Fucking Moroccans ordered more than our Army who are stuck in planning phase for an eternity while openly considering inducting Strykers in 2-3x more quantity. If this is how serious the country is about handholding local industry and bringing them to a standard that is acceptable and desirable, then, all anyone can expect from the private sector is reluctance.

What's preventing Gormint from floating a tender tomorrow to develop a engine and funding it completely? I mean that's how works in West right? Gormints float a tender for development of something to fund it completely. Contrary to all, the Western MIC Companies spend very less on Internal R&D funds in terms of Military Applications- of course the Internal R&D spending was enabled because they are present in parallel in Civilian sector like GE or Pratt and Whitney or Boeing.

I just don't understand how GoI works all cluelessly. Do they always suck up to DRDO chaps? Do GoI/MoD somehow magically expect Private Sector to be proficient which they were denied until License Raj era and compete with DRDO who were fed fatly all these years?

Float the tender, get a quote and proceed- what's so hard in this for this Gormint? Why Gormint is fixating on deciding price by itself? Are babus that retarded? You go to a vendor and ask for a quote- they say a price- you bargain and bring it down to which it is acceptable. As for how the vendor comes to such price, its their internal mechanisms.

Do babus randomly throw figures like 1B or 2B for development and expect vendors to suck up to it? Float the tender, allow companies to quote their price and select the lowest. The very concept of them fixating the price is extremely retarded because its not absolute, its all relative.

The Russians have just about introduced the AL-51 or Izdeliye 30 onto the Su-57 . We lack detailed information on it in the public domain.

The Chinese have also just about finished development on their 5th Gen WS-15 TF . There's practically zero information about it in the public domain as compared to the Russian one , except speculation. It's supposed to be on the recently launched J-36 . Saurav Jha thinks it's a 4th Gen TF.

Don't recall seeing this in any of the IAH , tbh.

They've teamed up with DRDL to develop the First Gen EB PVD machine . As per the latest episode of the IAH it's good enough for small qty in the lab . The production variant is some time away. Once again S Jha thinks getting it from Germany shouldn't be a problem courtesy the Project 75 I tender.

WS 15 is 4th Gen. 4th Gen is still in works

Can you share the clip where he stated that?

WS -15 is powering their J-20. It's been specifically developed for the latter.

It's not here . It's based on my discussions with members on another forum.
Check the clip. Xx20 something is their 5th gen un development.

WS-20 is a high bypass TF for their transporters & civil airliners. They must be having a few projects on going for the recent 6th Gen FAs they launched last month end .

They've been working on VCE tech since early last decade which is the reason I wondered aloud in the previous post if they'd mastered tech like EB VPD , etc .

As of now only the US has officially mastered material tech permitting TET > 2100°C . From what I understand the French are now developing / testing this tech . I believe this is what we're negotiating with the French for we'd take another 15-20 years to master this tech on our own. RR can't be far behind.

There was a news that gtre given 6 engines development to godrez aerospace, I don't know wat happens then.
