India Canada Relations

"It also has to take diplomatic action even if that causes trouble to the diaspora and hurts trade. The Canadians have challenged the country’s honour and what is left if honour is not defended, even if a cost has to be paid?"

"Diplomacy always requires a cool-headed approach. That does not mean meekness. The Canadian accusations cannot be dismissed as those that are routinely made by inimical neighbours. India must now use all its diplomatic arsenal to respond to the atrocious charges made by Canada which, significantly, has not made any real progress in the Nijjar murder trial, where it has held four Indian nationals as accused."

Unfortunately this will go the vikash yadav way , it seems from the current trajectory and lack of any convincing pushback by GOI.
I do not think it merits any attention, let them make a song and dance about it. Canada will stretch it till next elections, we should not give any fuel to them.
It's a useless country for real. We shall see if other anglo saxon countries follow suit, better engage with them, probably send an update every couple of months to inform how Canada hasn't brought any material evidence to the table but keeps on whining against all basic jurisprudence norms.

It's a shitty country of 40M, the last time it went to elections at UNSC, it got less votes than even Ireland (LOL)
Engage with the daddy US, let the dog bark.

A good summary, however
.it was Canadian reactor cirus part of so called atoms for peace that is now based in igcar
.Stryker (not withstanding arguments against it) is manufactured there
.have prowess in cryptographic equipments
.Canadian pension funds have been investing since long

The khalistani problem is there in entire anglosphere (and Germany)as it's nurtured by them however most of them keep these elements within leash so as not to upset India ties, only Trudeau for some reason is a standout.

While we are sad at not any intense pushback from GOI maybe hopefully silence is the best treatment as it brings to the fore the isolation and inability of Canada to get India act on Canadian concerns of freedom of speech and sovereignty.

We are talking of today, not of the past. Canada doesn't provide us anything that we can't obtain from other countries. Canadian pension funds are a leverage for us, they are not going to find any other India, shall they choose to escalate.
Same can be said for Canada, we have very little trade among us and that's why we both are largely immune, unlike the case with Canada and China.

Have to realise that in this India vs Canads spat, Canada is punching up and not the other way round. Even after this extraordinary public randi rona, all they managed to obtain from 2 out of their 5 chuddy buddy allies, is a halfhearted "do more" for India.
We should play the long game, negative press doesn't bother us anyway. Our rise is going to unsettle a lot of people.

While agreeing to the gist of your statement, however I don't underestimate Canada nor do I believe they are punching above their weight, if that was the case we would have seen a la turkey and Malaysia treatment to kanada, trade however small ,GOI doesn't want to disturb it.

In the long run India is going to win, but in the short term some visible snubbing of Trudeau will give thandak that's all.

Ryan Touhey, an associate professor of history at St. Jerome’s University has commented that Canada is “repeatedly missing signals from Delhi regarding Indian concerns over pro-Khalistani elements in Canada.” It is important to emphasize that this is an issue that predates the Air India bombing. Touhey has written in his chapter for the India Migration Report 2024: Indians in Canada that:

“Bill Warden [Canada’s High Commissioner in the early 80s], was summoned a record 18 times to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to discuss the problem [of Sikh extremism]. From the Indian perspective, Ottawa was not doing enough to rein in the growth of Sikh extremism in Canada—an issue that culminated in the Air India bombing of June 1985.”

It seems kanada has accepted the concept of buffer zones , taking cue from India china deal.

A part of present standoff it seems arises from lack of respecting cultural sensibilities. In Indians (including Sikhs) there is no such thing as empty threats, if khalis are threatening to act they may at a future date. These threats can't be condoned under freedom of speech.

SHOCKING! CANADA HAS PLACED INDIAN DIPLOMATS UNDER AUDIO AND VIDEO SURVEILLIANCE. MEA says, India has discovered this and has lodged a formal protest with the Canadian govt about this.

NDIA WARNS CANADA OVER BASELESS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST AMIT SHAH 🎯

🇮🇳 SUMMONS 🇨🇦 High Commissioner representative over Baseless ALLEGATIONS against Amit Shah.

MEA says 'Such irresponsible ACTIONS will have SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES for bilateral ties.'

How about expelling some more Canadian terrorists from India.

No country will simply let this pass.
