@Interested is correct, assuming an upgraded SU-30 MKI radar can detect 1m^2 RCS at 200 km then J-35 with assumed RCS of 0.05m^2 RCS will be detected at ~95 km by the same radar (~113km for 0.1m^2). There is a mathematical formula for this, you can use ChatGPT.

With just passive EW & RWR, J-35 will know where SU-30MKI is and can shoot first with PL-15s.

Rafale's OSF-IT might actually have a higher range (>125km) to detect J-35s if it knows where to look at that is where VHF radars come into picture.

Another challenge with stealth aircraft is maintaining track/lock at distance when guiding BVRs. Tactics for defending against <= 4.5 gen fighters can not be applied 1-to-1 for stealth fighters.

I think here the Data link between Fighters, AWACS and satellite systems will play the crucial role.

However we cannot over rely on our ground based vhf radars for tracking 5th gen fighters. The large radars can easily be targetted (porks cannot, chinki can). Amca is the only practical and viable solution which should be brought into service asap with IOC and f414 engines.

bro agr karma hai, to bhagya nhi (i mean pehle se likha huwa)....or agr bhagya jaisi cheez hai to karma nhi. dono me se ek manna padega. agr apke bhagya me sab kuch pehle hi likh diya hai, fir free will nd paap punya jaisa kuch nhi reh jayega. coz tab aap bhagwan ke likhe cheezo pe chal rahe. jispe aapka koi control nhi.

I think it will be faster ... a lot of ppl think the LCA experience will be replicated with the AMCA but I don't think so . India and ADA are in a different place right now .
