it's the bureaucracy nd bobudom culture which is currently plaguing our defence preparedness.. multiple red taps nd lethargic approach is our worst enemy..

Govt has done few reforms while giving armed forces the provision for emergency procurement in the wake of contingencies.. heck we are surrounded by two nuclear armed adversaries.. where one uses terrorism as a extension of its army to bleed india..

But we act like all is fine while drinking atmanirbharta coolaid when our armed forces are fighting with vintage equipments while waiting for DPSUs to deliver in requisite timelines..
While our forces are fighting with substandard obsolete equipments..DPSUs babus are enjoying their 9-5 job while having multiple tea breaks.. to all those iddm gangs who cry on private industry doing screwdrivergiri lol.. just watch what our DPSUs like BEL & BDL are doing.. previously they were doing screwdrivergiri for russian maal now they are doing same for isreali maal.. without any innovation..
Atleast private players will learn nd innovate.. like we have witnessed in drone industry.. where we hv got more than 200+ startups who are now manufacturing niche technology in india..

IAF wants Rafale.

F35 is future haseen sapna acquisition, mainly because the Dhotis will not be willing to agree to Uncle Sam's T&C to be allowed to buy it.

It's already raining kickbacks for dalals i'm sure since more Rafales will be bought, Govt has opened it's wallet for whatever reason.

It is more likely the Americans will hawk F16/F15 to us as hafta to be paid, F35 is the crown jewel and won't be sold so easily to a "russian ally" like India

South Korea already has its F-35. KF-21 is only a prototyp so far, so not direct competitors.
Same for Japan.
In India the sole modern west jet in service is Rafale. A F-35 order, in the best case according to India bureaucracy, may see the first jet in IAF in 2030 at best. So in direct competition with AMCA.

Tejas Mk2 is not in the same league than Rafale. More in the M2000 one, and can be seen as, to begin with, a M2000 replacement.
