Indian Air Force: News & Discussions (37 Viewers)

first of all, track record of muh isro says only 25 satellites would go in orbit, and you consider this satellite maxxing? pretty low standards to tackle chowmeins
Private players exists brother. We can always rely upon foreign players as well.. Desperate times calls for desperate measures..Also ISRO itself is trying to double their capabilities..

Private players here will "create sats"( with the help of isro) not responsible for launching them.
I meant global private players. Can't we just give them contract to launch these under strict observation.

I think that assembling C-390 would be much more commercially viable than A400M. Demand for A400M is negligible. 4? sold to 2 customers in the last 10+ years. Looks like it is near dead in the water. C-390 may sell dozens to Asian customers in the next 20 years.

Froggies are also making an MPA out of an Airbus and now since they have a "muh fellow Euopeen" bromance going on with Sweden, i'm sure there is an Airbus plane based AWACS also.

Let's hope Dolunds chimpouts are permanent and EUropoids divorce the US masta, it is only beneficial for us.

Talking of GlobalEye by SAAB, it is a fairly new platform introduced by them. It is way more capable than it's predessor Erieye. GlobalEye is based on Turbofan Engines whereas Erieye is Turboprop. I wonder how long SAAB will support Erieye? Porkis after having lost 2 of them will now be left with 7. If they want to upgrade to GlobalEye it will cost $500 million per aircraft which is simply out of their budget. Our air defenses make sure Erieyes based on Turboprop which are way slower won't come anywhere near 200 km from the border.

It's in service with many countries so maybe a decade?
Besides Erieye is only a radar, the airframe can be anything i guess.

One question to be asked is will Saab provide replacements, are the saab turboprop plane and Erieye in production?

This means they will be desperate for orders,Their desperation will just help us in negotiation.
And from what we know, they plan to increase it's payload to 40 tons and plan to create EW and drone mother ship varient, so no plans of closing down production line.

2 were damaged by militants in past, 1 was repaired, 1 wasn't.

our requirements and conditions are one of a kind, from leh ladakh to thar to kashmir valley to coastline duties, and then you have political angle in procurements, its better to appease macron for discounts in bulk contract than buy from dolund

Macron is our best friend now if we are buying this along with Rafale.
Germans are cured of Merkelitis and are normal people
Spain's Leftie PM is very practical when it comes to arms sales
UK's starmer is also pragmatic.

Some Made in America C-130Js can be purchased to prevent Dolund from chimping out, while these A400Ms can be made domestically

Have you taken into account the ones they lost in recent operation Sindoor? They definitely lost one in Bholari Airbase. Their air force personnel killed indicates there was one Erieye in the hangar and these personnel who were killed belong to the squadron who were tasked to operate and maintain Erieye. And they definitely lost another one in the air when S400 engaged near Dinga. A video was posted to that effect by @FalconSlayers in another thread to that effect.

Turks make a portion of the fuselage, if we're buying this, it may be a problem if the Turks have a veto on the sale.

They lost 3 awacs, ( 2 to India, 2 to militants, 1 damaged by militants was repaired) out of their fleet of 9 saab awacs in service.
So 6 awacs remaining.

They also have 4 zdk-03 awacs from China, which were Reassigned to secondary ESM, ECM role from AEW&C role in 2024, though how many are flying or if they are flying at all is unknown.
