We have been putting anti dumping duties on some of their imports for years. Much to their frustration. And we are huge market for their products, so we have a leverage. Bigger question to ask is why isn't anyone making TBMs here on their own? Why invite Herrenknecht here? One should question why tf does literal BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited) not having tunnel boring machines of their own? Private sector firms usually don't find it feasible to invest in own TBM D&D and production due to not much margins and lower demands, so that's something which PSUs like BEML should've been doing instead of building railway coaches, locomotives and what not.

We should also reciprocate and start putting tariffs on anything made in china by around 500%, just to give them and our own businesses a jolt.

Fuck them. It's high time we do so. In the 20 odd years we've had this one sided FTA we may have contributed a point or 2 to their GDP growth.

And that's poised to get better given "supply chain " inter linkages with China - short hand for being a packaging hub for Chinese products.

I recall A.M. Naik then chief of L&T now Chairman Emeritus being among the first to candidly admit the entire FTA pact with ASEAN was a disaster for us.

He confessed to having a few plants built in those countries simply because it was faster to build those plants , cheaper to operate & export to India by building there thanks to the cumbersome labour & land acquisition laws here , not to mention the time taken to accomplish all this.

They literally contribute to corruption, money laundering, and tax evation all the while saying they are doing it in the name of secrecy and privacy. No fucking wonder, the country looks beautiful and rich because of all the dirty money. This bank of international settlements is nothing surprising. The current financial system is built to favor Western countries. Sadly, there is literally no challenge to this system.

It's going to get better. As UK sinks & shrinks it'd increasingly emerge as an alternative to Switzerland in some form or another. The worrying part is they're a P-5 country which means much more power to push back than a Switzerland .
