This seems like a unpopular opinion here but how about we invest in providing better electricity , internet and infrastructure to small cities and even villages and Create more job opportunities in these small cities and villages so people won't have to migrate to big cities. I think taller buildings, wider roads are just way to prolong the inevitable and not the permanent solution.
Also incentivize the companies who give work from home so People won't have to leave there hometown or they could migrate to less expensive cities.

that's what this gormint is doing, other wise why do you think this gormint spent so much on rural household electricity, sanitation, roads , houses and connectivity.

Congis are literally bankrupting states. Karnataka, Telangana, HP were all promised freebies which has broken the treasury. If this message does not perculate to other states then god save this country. Hindu haramkores in this country have absolutely no idea about the implications of electing Congress whether it's economic implications or security implications. Idiots are more satisfied with crumbs thrown at them by the Congis. In Karnataka the verdict is already out, BJP a party which never got majority in state elections is now poised according to opinion polls to get around 160 seats. This is a brute majority never achieved by any party in Karnataka since 40 years. Imagine the shit Congis have created in Karnataka.

Its already proven that bigger cities are able to propel economic growth as talent remains in a confined space which helps unlock greater growth. What we need is a couple of more metro cities (In the next 5-10 years) catering to north India outside of Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida.

A megacity catering to East UP & Bihar is the only way we can improve productivity in these regions and it will help with lessening the burden on Delhi as well.

We simply don't have enough big cities and everyone just has to move to the 5-6 metro cities where the jobs are.

Question :- Are there any potential canidates for metro cities in East UP or Bihar?

Enshittification of bbsr has already started, outer areas are mix of dehat and bad urban sprawl, I would love Bbsr to grow, but city need forward planning, otherwise we will have another BLR situation.

Cuttack is a 1000 year old city, super dense and not much space for anything, it will need quite a bit of redesigning to even be a candidate for a metro. It dirty af, you can just search Cuttack on reddit and see how it's perceived.

Puri is also super sense and actually it's barely a city, it kinda like a collection of Villages that have taken a semi urban form.

Redevelopment of Puri is also a very controversial subject. I don't think it can easily be redeveloped. But it certainly needs redevelopment, most of the tourists tends to complain about the local infrastructure a lot.

The way this sentence is framed , feels like you(not you per se) are using people (the said talent) as a mean. you want to to create this cities where people will live and spend their life to this so called greater growth.

Well that's kinda how economics work, humans are called resource for a reason. Ofc they need good quality of life too, that's part of human resource development.

Eastern UP

Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhphur.

Bihar

Patna, Dharbanga, Gaya, Purnia

Just develop the existing city there. They need to bring industries at faster level.

I actually would have preferred a low TFR if not for the constant demographic change that is going on.

People might not remember but back in the day post independence Indian population was at just 340 million somewhere around what the US is at today. Today UP and bihar have that many people in that little area. Our cities were cleaner lesser strain on resources urban infrastructure when compared to whatever hellhole this place has become now.

I mean 340 million spread across India we were literally set up for success.

I mean back in the day bangalore had boating rides and large lakes lol imagine my surprise to that.

If only we had a govt which had completed the population swap and kept population in check along with decent industrialisation India probably would have a per capita GDP of 10-15k USD easily.

Nehruvian socialist policies dragged India thru the mud. Not a big pop.

India with a 340million population would likely have a lower gdp per capita and would matter less globally than indonesia

I don't know which member here said that the Commie and later rule of Trinamulla destroyed Bengal, which destroyed Kolkata, which also destroyed the chance of the east of the country to be developed.

It is correct whatever this member said

KA has Bangalore, TL has Hyderabad, UP, HR and Delhi part of NCR region, MH has Mumbai & Pune.
TN and Gujarat have industry distributed across their state so they don't have "metro" cities but still that's ok too.

Bihar, Odisha, Bengal, Jharkhand all left in the lurch, nothing much over there in comparison to above examples.
Very sad state of affairs.

Not really. Odisha does have a good presence of industry. Heavy industries at that like Steel, Coal, Aluminium, etc. It also has textile industry. BBSR is a pretty well planned city. It was one of the few properly planned city made in India back then. So BBSR can easily replace Kolkata if centre wishes to. Odisha also have Paradip port. So even if Bengal get still stuck in this hellish loop, there is a lot of chance of East getting developed. Jharkhand has minerals and all, all they need is competent less corrupt leadership. Bihar will always on a very slowly turtle-ish path to recovery unless some miracle happens. Though RJD walas would turn into a mess again everytime it improves a bit.
