I wonder when will our subhuman municipal babus start to do even 1% of the work they are supposed to do. Indian cities are the absolute toilets of the world thanks to them. Out of hundreds of cities, you can count in 1 hand the number of them which are clean and have nice paved roads. Most of our cities are overgrown villages with a few shiny buildings in between. Our complete lack of urban investment + 0 accountability of municipal governance is killing probably 2-3% of gdp growth each year. Just making the cities clean with paved roads and footpaths, and banning honking will improve QOL multifold, but our babus can't even do that.

Crumbling infra, bad roads. Guy is talking about United shitdom where building anything will piss off the local khap panchayat bois.

Country will run irrespective of Goras cries.

What a way to karma firm, haha. But honestly, you want a great experience in India? Pay more! It is that simple. India's tourism industry does not depend on outsiders (unlike vietnam, kenya etc where domestic tourism is non existent and the industry takes pride in their ability of being budget friendly) - if the tourist does not spend he/she will be treated like nobodies - does not really matter if you are a foreigner or not.

If you want to cope, post how the gormint is falling well short of their own capex targets. Or how their divestment targets are so pitifully modest (proceeds of which can be spent on infra etc).

Not this! Too many cheapskates expect to be treated like royalty in here. Do not like it here? Do not come. It is not at all easy to secure or extend an Indian visa (unlike, Vietnam etc where tourists are prioritized) - assuming the user to be a genuine tourist (and not a larper), dafuq he/she was spending 3 years in a nation he/she didn't like for?

Paying more doesn't buy you clean air, clean roads, 0 harrasment, all shop keepers overcharging and stopping sexual harassment if you are woman.

More than Petro/Diesel, I am shocked to see the doubling of CNG prices in last 3-4 years. When we bought our first CNG car, CNG was around ~INR 47-48/KG. Now in 4 years it has almost doubled to INR 81/KG!!

Whichever fuel becomes popular, Babus double the price for that. I am 100% sure if EVs market rise above 15-20% then electricity prices will be doubled.​

Already happening .. IN Mumbai you can only charge your EV car on commercial rate meters even if it is in a residential complex.

during early 2000's muricans sold the idea to GoI that CNG/LNG is the cheap transitionary fuel in the name of climate change mitigation, after creating a demand for it, now market calculations are being applied to it by the producing nations.

within India while one half of this issue is with non application of GST, other half of the story is about a broken "promise" which murican discourse conveniently brushes under the carpet.

Gas prices are too volatile. Even more than crude oil. It's hovering about 2x of Covid era. It was indeed immaturity of GOI to let CNG vehicles roll. Our best bet is investing into developing high elec density Sodium phosphate batteries for EVs, and robust and cheap charging infrastructure.

We should push capex for our own betterment, not to seek gora validation or to seduce more foreign tourists.

Also, 'polluted air' is a feature of rapidly industrializing economies, not a bug (the geographical location of Delhi NCR only adds to it). One reason why goras shifted their polluting industries from their backyards. The moment you force tougher emission norms on your industry you lose the cost advantage. For all the shits the 'farmers' get, stubble burning is still a pretty minor contributor to the worsening air quality of NCR - there was this report on ToI that claimed that despite the reduced no of stubble burning incidents in the vicinity (a 45% reduction in the last few years), air quality improved only moderately (by about 6-7%).

India is not more crime prone than the average emerging economy. Heck, even the travel advisories they issue on us are standard boilerplate stuff and generally indistinguishable from the ones they issue for other lower/upper middle income developing nations.

My fam is in India and the younger ones in the family all have recurring cough / lung problems so does all the elders in the family. Same case with all neighbours. It seems COPD is a big thing among elderly right now in India and so is lung cancer.

They really don’t have to suffer like this and really painful to watch. The less said about city infra the better. And this goes for our super city Delhi as well. GDP growth rate and all are fine but we need sustained discipline and rigour in developing infra, education, and healthcare.

What is the point of GDP growth when our cities and urban infrastructure do not meet upto the standards of even 3rd world cities? Economic growth has no meaning if you have to breathe and drink carcinogens all day. In 2017, I had a job offer in Kolkata with a 45% hike. I left that job and returned back to my old company within a week. In the seven days I spent in Kolkata, I had daily migraine attacks with chest pain and coughing.
