Indian Economy

HSR does not need to be 'profitable'.

That is the plan.
Let's do the basics right first establishing a network of expressways, highways and dedicated freight corridors will prove more useful that establishing a HSR. but of course giving huge sums of money to HSR will generate headlines and the ministers can take full credit

HSRs transformed Japanese economy in the '70s and the '80s and had a very large multiplier effect on their economy. You understimate the impact of quicker mobility of masses on an emerging economy

HSRs are also more efficient than building 6-8 lane toll roads/expressways and emit less carbon. We should build both. DFCs do not carry people so irrelevant here.

Delhi-Patna high-speed rail corridor can be extended to the Northeast or Kathmandu if needed. While its profitability is uncertain, such an extension would help counter China’s high-speed rail corridors in Tibet.

They wanted Christians from NE only, that is why it became a scandal many months ago, this "preference" was announced by one of their ministers on live TV.
Anyway the oogah-boogahs can make themselves useful this way by sending remittances.

If a "pipeline" is established for exporting the oogah boogahs like Mallus are forced to export themselves, hopefully we can add some "diversity" to their states to prevent out of control oogah boogah insurgencies in the future.
There are a few issues here. The Taiwanese are definitely looking at this thru the lens of race. Brown people complicate issues , the more the brown people the more the complications . Not so much people who share your phenotype , hence the NE.

The second issue is that of the kind of work these workers are expected to do. I suspect most of this is the unskilled / semi skilled menial labourer work or caretaker or assistants in various professions.

This is where most of the jobs are taken by the Filipinos & Indonesians , mostly the former.

As you climb up the value chain to more skilled jobs , people from the NE lose out & the Taiwan government will have to compromise there.

one more sector being slowly opened up.

The Finance Minister stated that the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Policy will be revamped to address cost disadvantages, which will also include Credit Notes for shipbreaking in Indian yards to promote the circular economy. Further, the large ships above a specified size are also proposed to be included in the infrastructure harmonized master list (HML).

The Union Budget also proposes to facilitate ‘Shipbuilding Clusters’ in order to increase the range, categories and capacity of ships. This will include additional infrastructure facilities, skilling and technology to develop the entire ecosystem. Acknowledging that the shipbuilding has a long gestation period, the Finance Minister proposed to continue the exemption of Basic Customs Duty on raw materials, components, consumables or parts for the manufacture of ships for another ten years. She further proposed the same dispensation for ship breaking to make it more competitive.

Let us pray we become world-class at this shipbuilding sector, lots of employment generation and will help our Naval buildup also, good initiative by govt, should probably get some technocrat MoS to help Sarbanda also.

This is a legit reason, so basically there was news of "Taiwan importing workers from India" in that country.

This was before the whole "North east christian only" declaration on live TV by their one minister

Anyway so when this news came out, Taiwanese tiktok was filled with more than the usual "Indians filthy, indians gang rapists" etc, along with that came protestors on the streets not wanting immigrants from India because "they are rapists and they will take our women and replace us", basically the Chinku version of MAGAtards going after h1b and screeching about deportation.

TLDR is CCP is running propaganda there that "Your govt is going to import dirty Indian rapists to replace all of you!!! ", their govt realizes this is a PR minefield and so the NE only imports because of phenotype as you've said

East Asian phenotype is not unique to Northeast; individuals from Bangladesh, West Bengal, and Nepal can also have East Asian features. And, not everyone from Northeast necessarily has an East Asian phenotype.
Some tribes in Eastern Bihar, such as the Rajbongshis, also exhibit East Asian facial features.IMG_5245.webp

Actually this is where L&T shipyard at Kattupalli , the one at Pipavav , the ABG shipyard which shut down & others can massively cash in by collaboration with the Koreans & Japanese .

I sincerely hope GoI doesn't fuck this up by throwing open this sector to majority stake by Foreign OEMs like they did with the Metro Rake mfg , Vande Bharat trainsets , etc.

The Koreans , Japanese etc are now facing up not only to high standards of living , higher fixed costs at home among other factors but also a low TFR which is going to plummet further. That matters a lot in a manpower driven industry. We ought to capitalise on it.

I don't see DPSUs like MDL , GRSE , CSL , GSL etc derive much thru collaborations with these OEMs given their work culture & bureaucracy inherent in these organisations.

I just hope GoI takes due note & encourages the Pvt Sector to take advantage of this move & not unnecessarily experiment by forcing DPDU shipyards into such arrangements.

On a slightly different note it also highlights the issue I've raised earlier about amalgamation of different DPSU shipyards into 2 cos viz East & West Coast Shipyards & giving them autonomy freeing them from the shackles of the bureaucracy.

The more we delay such moves , the more these shipyards fail to realise their true potential leading to potentially grave consequences in the future .

DPSU shipyards seem to be consigned to endup as Navy shipbuilders exclusively.
60 years of trying to get commercial shipbuilding has been a total flop show with PSU shipyards,

So only Private sector should be incentivized, L&T is already there and Adani has been rumored to enter shipbuilding, while a textile manufacturer trying to become conglomerate has purchased Pipavav Shipyard recently.

Developing an expressway network across Bihar would boost the state’s economy more than city metro projects. However, it is more expensive, challenging, and does not attract as much public attention as metro construction. If Bihar state government were to inaugurate even a small metro network in cities like Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, or Gaya, they would heavily promote it during elections to gain public attention and, ultimately, votes.

My dream is to see Delhi, Patna, and Kolkata connected by a Dedicated Freight Corridor, expressways, and a high-speed rail corridor as soon as possible. However, this is an extremely complex task due to India’s challenging land acquisition process, which becomes even more difficult in West Bengal.

Let us face the reality instead of building air castle. An average bihari is being held in an small house in various southern states like Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka working from morning 6 am to evening 6pm in construction, Textile, hairdressers etc. sight getting an salary of Rs.500. Guys in construction sight even live there itself to avoid paying extra rent.

During the Chath pooja period these people were being dumped in an UR coach and move around like an Cattle from Chennai Central to Bihar.

Once landed the same bihari bro will reach the home in an dingy bus and join his wife and his kids.

This is the harsh reality happening in Bihar, West Bengal. They seeing the Ministers boastfulness of building an Metro in their hometown does not change this reality that he needs to travel again in UR to reach the southern states and start the work of 12 hours to feed his family.

Nithish in last 10 years basically exists to save his ass by jumping from Lalu gang to BJP as a switch off/on condition. He does not bring anything that changes the life of average Bihari. Building Infrastructure looks good unless you bring industries to use them move goods. Otherwise it will be there as link to go from Delhi to Kolkata.

They need to do this instead of muh caste census.

The scale needs to be increased significantly on par with states like TN, Gujarat, MH etc.

The state is still connected to Haldia port via 4 lanes. Not efficient but industries still present in hinterland and survived there.

Any sane country will call it out as racists. But we are here to do ass spreading for remittance. Government will silently allow this behavior.

Otherwise, it the moment they told this, I would have called them for rethinking about of One China policy.

It saddens me to see people from Bihar migrating to other states in India solely for their livelihood, with most working in the textile sector. However, a significant number have found success, establishing their own textile firms in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Punjab, and other parts of the country. If these entrepreneurs were to return and invest in Bihar, it could significantly reduce the need for people to migrate for work.

The textile sector, despite generating more jobs with lower investment, does not receive as much attention as the IT or automobile industries. Another promising sector for Bihar is tourism. Even today, Bihar is ranked as the 8th most visited destinations by foreign tourists.
Maharashtra: 33.88 lakh
Gujarat: 28.07
West Bengal: 27.07
Delhi: 18.28
Rajasthan: 17.00
Uttar Pradesh: 16.02
Tamil Nadu: 11.75
Punjab: 7.42
Kerala: 6.49
Bihar: 5.47
Goa: 4.53
Karnataka: 4.09
Jharkhand: 1.89
Madhya Pradesh: 1.83
Telangana: 1.61
Uttarakhand: 1.43
For Buddhism, Bihar holds the same significance as Mecca for Islam and the Vatican for Christianity. Additionally, all of India’s ancient empires originated from Bihar, making it a remarkable blend of history and natural beauty yet it remains underpromoted.

The third sector with immense potential is agriculture and food processing. With abundant water and fertile land, Bihar can significantly enhance agricultural output by effectively managing floods. This would not only boost food production but also provide raw materials for food processing industries and biofuel production, such as ethanol.

Bihar has the perfect opportunity to built mega textile parks, employ lakhs and avoid mass migrations. But it is not happening unfortunately. As far as Taiwan goes, I mentioned above than due to pakis and kanglas running grooming, terrorism and mob gangs on western and even eastern streets has made all subcontinentals as "bad guys" because the average non-subcon would view all as same and refuse to believe that Indians are any different even though all statistics from various major countries in Europe and America show that Indians are represented the least in prisons and have amongst the lowest crime rates. Kind of how an Arab Christian might face racism in west for what Arab mullas do in gulf. So that is probably why they are after North East folks so that they are acceptable to the local Taiwanese population.
