A combination of belt treatment and incentives has worked very well in the electronics sector. It will work here too. Slap tariffs/anti dumping duties and dhandhos will fall in line - they have to, anyway! I know there is the question of national security involved here but even if viewed from a simple market access pov, we don't have to feel bad about treating chong exports unfairly because chongs do it all the time.

on this TRAI thing..

unbundling of services is now a feature in India's digital regulatory space.

few other areas unbundling has happened so far:

- mobile number portability
- Aadhaar
- ONDC
- OTT set top box

during UPA, TRAI said a consumer can carry their mobile number from one network to another cellular network.

aadhaar was originally planned as one ID for all systems, but later changed to authentication system for all other IDs.

ONDC, splits e-commerce supply chain process into pieces. instead of one private player owning the entire supply chain, now consumer can choose services which gives more value.

a few years back, channels in set top box used to come in one package. now we can choose which channel we can pay for instead of paying for bundle of channels we don't watch.

i suspect this is regulatory way of ensuring monopolies do not get entrenched.

Bangladesh has GSP+ from EU. Sri Lanka also has a lot of textile exports, I checked and they too have GSP from USA and GSP+ from EU. It is given to LDCs/primitive economies by USA and EU with preferred market access. Our entire neighbourhood has it, we too used to have that at some point but we no longer do as they consider us "developed" economy now.

If Vietnam does not have GSP and they are still able to attract textile manufactures in the country is it just due to labor and land laws plus can UP, Bihar industrial parks (Outside Noida) guarantee 24x7 electricity and a good law and order situation plus a extensive road network to export goods (They have to at least reach the nearest port)

Patna Airport was built 60 years ago, so its outdated appearance is not surprising. In fact, many newly built railway stations and bus terminals in Bihar itself look far more modern than Patna Airport and several other airports in the country. However, a new terminal is currently under construction at Patna Airport, featuring a contemporary design.

One important thing to remember is that Bihta Airport and Patna Airport are not the same. Bihta Airport is located 35 kilometers from Patna and is a brownfield airport. It previously served as an Air Force base and is now being converted into an international airport, making it the second airport of Patna.

India is pretty sorted for any high skilled manufacturing. Because of educated work force and heavy engineering bench strength.

We suck at low end manufacturing because of outdated labour and industrial laws. Plus our low skilled/ unskilled labour need formal education to some degree.

In her budget speech, Nirmala Sitharaman announced that, in addition to a brownfield airport in Bihta, Greenfield airports will be built in Bihar. But she did not specify the locations, I believe these airports could be in Raxaul, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, and Chhapra, with the possibility of one in Rajgir as well.
