Ya'll Nibbiars RRTS in current form has a hugh limitations and Why Politicans are the main factor for it that's are as Follows.

1 . Station platforms can support only upto 8 rakes.

2 . Each car capacity due to seating layout is limited to only 300 with standing that gives 1,800 pax current capacity per rake as current one are 6 car rakes.

3 . Narrow body limits the internal volume, even Mumbai Suburban sized cars runs on standard Gauge of many European cities with higher capacity I.E. Denmark.

4 . Signalling system limits numbers of services can be operated per hour.

5 . Per hour currently capacity is just 22.5K, even if rakes are expanded to 9 and interval reduced to just 5 minutes maximum allowed by the system still it's per hour capacity is just 57.6K.

6 . With the current trend in the ridership this could be achieved within a decade and after that it will be capacity crunch due to system can't be expanded beyond that.

7 . Another issue is the Intergation of much slower Meerut Metro on same line which will not allowed to even reach the above mentioned numbers so it will be Limited to below 40K pax per hour so rush hour will become another Mumbai Local with Cattle classes.

8 . By Comprasion Mumbai Suburban New AC Rakes will be all 12 cars with each of 400 Pax capacity per car and overall 4,800 pax per rakes and headway can be just 1.5 minutes during the Rush hour.

9 . And remember Mumbai lines are quad pack so overalls capacity will be 2.4 Lakhs Per hours with newer AC Rakes.

10 . The NCRTC after seeing the Meerut line response decide to rectify the above points with longer platforms for 12 car rakes, different signaling system to allow lower headway and change in seating layout to accommodate more passenger by few planners.

11 . But after seeing Higher cost due to changes in design and UP and Haryana Government pressure to include the Noida Metro and Gurgaum Metro line sharing with Jewar and Alwar RRTS has resulted in the specification remain unchanged.

12 . At this rate RRTS might Hit it's capacity crunch soon and then not able to coupe due to core design issues.

First Lines in the system are always a trial one with many trial and errors and have to learn lessons from it, but politicans are not allowing it to rectify.

For Comprasion PRC long Metro also known as Express Metro lines with 70 to 120 KM length have higher capacity with 400 pax per car and runs 12 cars rakes so it has 4,800 pax per train and it’s signalling system support and headway as low as 1.5 minutes. And their station are also as far as RRTS with speed of 130 KMPH so even they have similar travelling time along with higher capacity simiar to a Mumbai Suburban trains.

Mumbai planned RRTS might not face this issues as the lesson taken from the first RRTS will be implemented here. But NCRTC planners are struggling to coupe with government pressure.

So who came up with the DPR or feasibility report? They left out all these basic design factors?

Ya'll Nibbiars they didn't expect the response to be so good and high and had set the bar extremely low here.

Ya'll Nibbiars The Indore Metro sees 90 percent dip in passengers after June Launch, Only 500 Commuters Travelling Per Day.

I assume it has to do with these Metros not being complemented by other means of transport like buses and stuff ?
Indore metro needs poha vending machine to attract a lakh people in a day

And dont worry about occupancy rn, navi mumbai metro was like this in dec 2023, i saw empty coach literally, in 3 coach train max 10 people were there. I went to taloja through metro on a weekday in afternoon off time, i didnt get a seat. It takes time for a new transport method to get into the people, here people are used to local, now they are getting used to metro too. Maybe indore people are used to personal methods like car and bike. I learnt that mp doesnt even have a bus 🤣🥲. Wait for a few months, occupancy should increase

Metro lines need to be a large network to gain ridership. The main reason is urbanization is not happening fast enough. Urbanization does not mean moving to a city and loving in a jhuggi. People need to have proper jobs and living in good homes and paying taxes. That kind of urbanization is not happening at the pace it should be. This is a problem as industries are getting automated and AI driven. It is going to be tougher and tougher to generate formal jobs with good pay and benefits. India needs to go for futuristic manufacturing where it can become a trusted destination.
