This is a huge development if true. There are just 6 other Disney World Parks around the world apart from the first & biggest of the lot in Florida , US.

Yup which is the reason I wasn't quite convinced . It's "Disneyland " inspired. Apparently it's floated by Govt of Maharashtra & Niti Aayog . What business does a government & a planning & policy implementation body have in such an endeavour is beyond me .

What's interesting is it's also very neat Mukesbhai's land parcel. This development needs to be watched carefully in the days ahead.

I wished they used more local architectural styles instead of these ugly modern architecture.

It seems eventually all corners of Mumbai will be polished and developed in such a way that it would hardly have any unaesthetic corner.

Traditional Indian styles will be maintenance nightmare compared to this. This is very simple compared to that.

For buildings we can employ them, bring some inspiration rather soviet style void zone construction.

I do not mind tho. Good way to monetize existing land parcels. Of course gormint is not going to build it - they will just lease it out to some 3rd party and be done with it.

Because it's near Mukesssbhai's land parcel , I suspect this is a case of GoM taking over the land & leasing it to him in perpetuity .

Already there's plenty of hanky panky going on there now & around 2 decades ago (during the UPA rule when Komal Nath , Chidambaram , etc came out with their SEZ land bank scheme which was a land grab ) w.r.t land & mind you I'm talking of thousands of hectares .

Please don't mistake it to be some mini township kind of stuff. This is literally anywhere between a quarter to a third of a district I'm talking about just around the new airport where an alternative / satellite city to Navi Mumbai & Mumbai is coming up .

On a related note , have you seen the Hollywood classic Chinatown ? If you did , this situation comes closest to it .

Better to have a maintenance nightmare and honor your traditions than build with soulless, modern crap that inspires nobody. I was reading about Indian traditional construction and apparently modern homes in India struggle with heat and mosquito problems. Supposedly this wasn't a problem with traditional homes constructed before the modern revolution. Regardless, honoring our ancestors is better than any of this crap being built now.

I was reading about Indian traditional construction and apparently modern homes in India struggle with heat and mosquito problems. Supposedly this wasn't a problem with traditional homes constructed before the modern revolution. Regardless, honoring our ancestors is better than any of this crap being built now.

Dude it is simple 4 poles with an cover. What you want to build? Bring granite from Kadappa district in AP. Ask Chola inspired sculptors from Tanjore and build either in assembly style or craving out the granite to bring pillars and roof.

Indian traditional houses have 12-15 feet height roof along with internal vent. Everyone can build even today, but current construction standard is 10 feet. More height more material more cost. It is matter of cost. Builders will not do this. Only people who wants individual house can build like this.

Tropical countries will have Mosquitos. Remove stagnant water and they will not come out.

We can honor ancestors, but build it in some auditorium, airports, Railway stations. If we dig into public spaces, too much cost. We don't even have maintenance.
