BrahMos is cold-launched and Nirbhay is hot-launch.
The current BrahMos UVLM can easily launch a Nirbhay...but for just once

LR-LACM will be integrated with UVLM.

This is what I have been saying as well. It is more practical to have two types of UVLS strike missiles AShM & AShBM... Other for smaller platform like various SAMs & BMD.

We'll be needing AShBM & BMD onboard our ships very soon. Have no doubt. Anti-sub Kamorta Class platform may be expanded to an Air-defence escort as well.

I think its possible to use UVLS

0.8x0.8m, 8-8.5 m deep, hot launch. Similar to US, just slightly bigger.


will be big enough to quad pack long range anti air (~500-550 mm wingspan). Should fit bramhos too, only need to turn it into hot launch missile (booster redesign only).

Plus, is big enoug for BMD and AShBM also.

I still think this MoU and ToT from Japan thing was not really needed.

Firstly, it's not that hard of a technology to develop if we had really tried; our radar technology is in no way inferior to Japanese. And secondly, this Japanese approach of an unified mast feels like a half baked idea; where you have a pyramid base for half the sensors and then a tall, weirdly suggestive looking thing for remaining half.

I personally feel the approach of Thales or Selex integrated masts to be much more elegant and simple

As i have said before i am monke with navy tech but i've seen a similar structure on all the EU Big 4 countries latest frigates, those Dutch frigates that they export and now the Japanese dildo frigate

Burgers most mysteriously just put all their eggs in the Zumwalt basket and have 80s designed ships otherwise so i don't think they have this

Neither. ADE/BDL are working on a different canister for LR-LACM, need not utilise the 800mm BrahMos canister for a missile that is <600mm.
Hot launch from UVLM is possible.

As i have said before i am monke with navy tech but i've seen a similar structure on all the EU Big 4 countries latest frigates, those Dutch frigates that they export and now the Japanese dildo frigate

The Holland Class OPV uses the exact same model of integrated mast from Thales, not just the concept

I saw on google maps that their port and kanglu naval base in Chittagong is riverine and not on the coast, so is the rest of the city proper, it's a bit inland, close to river

They seem to have one beach, the rest of the coastline seems to be marshes

This marshes and riverine port were exploited to the full by naval saboteurs of the Mukti bahini trained by our frogmen under Unit X in the 71 war.

And yes, your reading of it is right, it'll be very difficult to conduct a maritime invasion thanks to the shifting nature of tidal sand banks, differing heights of tides, and in general shallow water nature of the whole area - UNLESS you go Nam style flat bottomed skiffs and hovercrafts.

You know what I'd do if I were to be put at the helm of IN??
1. Get ourselves a couple of Netra AWACS and have them permanently stationed in the Car Nicobar Air Force Station
2. Set up an OTHR site on one of the islands
3. Ask the GoI to buy a squadron of MKIs specially modified for maritime strike roles
4. Have the DRDO develop a score of powered glide bombs of 250kg variety with ERO seekers and range of at least 250+ kms. Have them built in both air and ground launch configuration. Heck, even the SAAW would probably suffice, if it can be fitted with a small turbojet or even a pulse jet engine.
5. Buy at least a few thousand long range suicide drones like that Iranian Shahed and have them distributed in the various islands of the Andamans.
6. Wait.

But that's just me.

So basically an anti-ship air base in Andaman; as soon as there's a dot on the OTHR you scramble the AWACS and if there's indeed a naval attack package, you send it those MKIs to swarm with smaller but long ranged stand-off weapons. There's also those long ranged Kamikaze drones.

Not any argument against it, but some considerations

1. The detection range of the air search radar and the engagment range of those Chinese S-400 type missile would be way more than this 250km+. Also the use of these no to low-powered munitions (glide, small rocket, turbojet) presents a rather unique dilemma as compared to high-powered missiles; you want to climb to the highest possible altitude to increase the range as much as possible but in a naval run you want to be near the waves as much as possible. Also the terminal speed of glide bombs would be slow enough for even the CIWS to engage. And all these brings us back to where we started; BrahMos. There are two problems with BrahMos that makes it almost impossible to use in a swarm attack like you could have used these cheaper glide bombs; it's high cost and the fact that you can carry at max just three (that too theoretically) on a MKI.
So I'd keep your plan as it is but just replace the munitions with BrahMos and BrahMos-OB. What's BrahMos-OB!!??
Well it's BrahMos-Oonga Boonga; it would be a small, lightweight missile with no warhead or seeker but would fly at the same speed as BrahMos...and have the same RCS. So now you've increased the hit probability per Su-30MkI without increasing the cost and the weight limit.

2. Another point; this common notion of "Andaman is an unsinkable carrier" is just pure lie; definitely it's unsinkable but not unburnable. People have no idea about the wrath of ballistic missile it would face if there's a base there that's deemed a threat by the PLA. You'll be needing an absolute God tier AD/BMD system.
So this also needs to be addressed

Another assymetric approach that I'd like IN to explore other than this naval strike thing is an evolved version of torpedos mines. It's been more than four decades since US has inducted the CAPTOR mines; a small shell that lays dormant on the sea bed with multiple sensor and after getting triggered they fire the torpedo. We can have something similar but with an unmanned surface vehicle instead of torpedo. As soon as an early warning systems detects naval presense we remotely fire a bunch of these systems nearest to them and take control using satellite links. Also being USV, we'd have the ability to call off the attack at any moment

Cutting down the small piece of land connecting Bangladesh main region and Chittagong is much better option. For that special Military operation from Tripura.

Then direct landing on Chittagong to initiate Pant removing ceremony of BD Army. Meanwhile we need to handle Rohingyas camp which is a breeding site and BD Turkish blood infused warriors.


Also to eliminate the complete BD threat we need to blow the bridges connecting the west and East Bangladesh to eliminate free troop movement.

I just wanted to say things won't be so smooth bcoz involvement of various other factors
Yes they have barely 10 surface combat ships
But they won't be fighting alone
They will be assisted by their AF and we may face dense ew environment too
Although we have far superior surveillance capabilities but even they aren't void of such components

My whole point was there will be no walkover but we will provide significant damage and also construct a large naval blockade and suffocating them

A naval blockade of PorkiStan will cripple it's economy & disintegrate it way faster than we realise. It's like a nuclear option for these cockroaches.

If you were a navy operating an LHD like this, why would you operate something like F35B over some attack helicopter like the Apache or Bell Viper ?
What benefit does STOVL jet provide over attack chopper, or any other speshul variety like AWS Choppa or even extra transport choppers so you don't have to be dependent on the hovercrafts/landing boats?
