We dont have a need for more nukes anyway, 170 are enough to take out both Pakistan and China 5 times over. And there are no other enemies that we need to worry about with a nuclear retaliation.

You forgot murica, make no mistake, they will always be our enemy no1. One of the reasons for their interest in St.Martin's island is to monitor our ICBM program & if possible sabotage it

No it’s not. 170 may be enough to destroy Pakistan completely but it in no way is enough to destroy China completely. You need at least 1500 nukes to completely destroy China. For starters it’s an acceptable estimate to guess that for every 2 nukes used, one will be a dud and you need at least three nukes per major city to obliterate the city. US has a targeting policy of throwing at least 6-9 nukes per major city. And you need more to destroy hardened military bases and depots. So China has over 150 major cities and 200 major military bases and that means you would need 2000 nukes to target those.
