Indian Railways

Long term project - with some pilot runs announced at New Delhi, Patna Jn, KSR Bengaluru and a few other major stations. Will probably take over a decade to construct all the necessary infra (lounges, large no of waiting halls etc) across all the important stations.
Major railway stations category A are under redevelopment and railway should incorporate this in designs now. NDLS CSMT KSR Secunderabad Ahmedabad and many A grade stations can become restricted access to platforms from concourse. You can’t build world class railway stations and let restricted access to create chaos on platforms. Print QR code on tickets and let passengers scan and enter ok to platforms should be the medium in future.

How they implemented ? is some gated scanner like metro ??

ideally, treat every railway station as an airport, minus few of the restrictions and checks, plus few more facilities and services.

That's all you need to do.

So somebody must be at gate that will ensures existence of valid ticket.

How will it possible at railway station, looking at civic sense.

At airport people itself put up at queue.

Everything looks tough when the change you are trying to bring is a huge one.

Point is, we must bring in these changes.
We have no other choice but to bring in these changes.

Alternative is chaos and loss of life.

Indian railway not pursuing it as no budget for this year is allocated. Though the idea is good and can be implemented around metro cities.
Why, tho? I do not worry about budget allocations too much because those can be altered anytime. There are even rumors of them designing and prototyping modified VB metro for replacing the local trains of Mumbai and beyond.

IR is undertaking a long term project here - will require a lot of tweaks and modifications on our usual station designs. Major changes won't be visible up until several years from now.

Tangentially related, is there any hope of India using natural gas lamps and not LED lamps? LED is extremely bad for your health and the environment

Natural gas have methane sir. Methane is major problem for Global Warming.

We found the solution. People will stand in the stations holding this.

There are different projects running in parallel to work on existing issues with Indian Railways.

In case you forgot Railways has upgraded close to 50% of all track length from average speed of 70-80KMPH to 130 KMPH. That is done in last 3-4 years alone.

Why upgraded to 130 kmph ? Why not 300+ ?

France is running bullet trains on older tracks .

300+ means complete overhaul of entire Indian Railways routes. We are investing in dedicated HSR infra. Currently IR work is to upgrade all routes to 160KMPH on its mainline. TGV in older tracks still run in restricted speed.

Step by Step progress.

We are not going to run 300KMPH trains on these tracks.

The British era alignment and routes doesn’t allow broad gauge line for 300+ speed. We need to overhaul completely to get to that speed which IR will never take up.
What IR has to do is to upgrade present infrastructure to 180 - 200 kmph and build a greenfield dedicated fast corridor between major metropolitan cites ( Delhi - Kolkata - Chennai - Bengaluru - Mumbai ) which can be 250-280 kmph speed keeping the ticket costs affordable. Bullet train tickets will be out of purchasing power of 80% of Indians and will be a white elephant for next 20-30 years.
