Indian Small Arms and Weapons

What’s the configuration which NSG is acquiring if it’s available in public?
There's only one configuration of CSR338. Moreover companies usually refrain from making a new variant just before a tender, let alone a tiny 30 piece one, as they don't get time to iron all the bugs.

They seem to have quoted quite a competitive price for the gun...$9,750.

This $9,750 obviously includes the rifle and usual accesories like sling, cleaning kit...together with 4x Magazines, Bipod, Monopod, Telescopic Sight, Uncooled Thermal Sight, Rangefinder, Weather Station and interestingly Zeroing Tools, Suppressor Cleaning Kit, Repair Kit, Chronograph.

Interestingly, because things like suppressor cleaning kit of chronograph are never issued per gun. These are more of an armourer level thing.

But who cares, end of day Caracal was able to provide all of these for less than $10k

All this in under 10 grand? I remember IWI Dan .338 being shown at 9000ish bucks with just the rifle, not even the steiner scope

Summoning @Ayan Barat for clarification.
At your service Sir
personally i don't really like this rifle , isn't the rail too skeletal
Yes, it is. And it's absolutely okay.

In case of a sniper rifle, especially one with an engagement range of 1,000m you don't really need that much of rail space. There's no point of mounting a flashlight, lasers would simply reveal your position, no need of a fore-grip, nor an angled grip. Heck you don't even need back-up iron sights.

The only thing that's ever going to get mounted on a long range sniper rifle are a scope, bipod and maybe a clip-on thermal imager. That's it.

Moreover this skeletonized handguard might even help in slightly better heat dissipation from the barrel.

Are the sssd suppressors built just for their assault rifles?

Yup, I'm shocked too.
24599166/30=819972. @ 84 it would be $9,761

And this includes everything from rangefinder to chronograph to night shight. Even a good lower end SIG Sauer or NightForce scope can cost $2-2.5k.

All guns and suppressors are made in some standard thread pitch like 1/2"-28 or M15-1.0, so everything is everything capable it they share the same threadings.

Moreover SSSD recently supplied a suppressor for Sako TRG42. So ya

Indian companies are able to get export orders more frequently than domestic orders. MOD babus should have minimum criteria of atleast 2 neurons each rather than the whole MOD share 2 neurons.

Even if SSSD was more expensive they were making guns domestically for which they would pay taxes in multiple ways to the govt in some form or other, so in the end the govt would be able to recover some cost and the gun might be actually cheaper than the quoted price.
