all the critics of ARDE carbine coming out without realising or deliberately avoiding things like
> this is first time an IDDM design that too of milled (machined) receiver is getting L1 here, beating international competition
> design is of two piece sectioned receivers with top and bottom receivers both milled, and that it's influenced by SIG 540 / 550 design (and those series firearms are stamped sheet receiver designs to start with), overall a very M4-ish configuration here
> this design gives a very steady base to top rails so any optics on it will not be facing issues like zero shift, unlike any aftermarket top railed cover on any upgraded AK or INSAS (although a dedicated long range optical scope makes no sense on this carbine configuration, still it's damn good to have such a sturdy top railed platform for any Zeiss Z-point chhap reddot or BEL Trinetra Holographic sight)
> this design has handguards mounted with pins = easily removable if needed, unlike AK or INSAS ones which requires a flathead screwdriver like tool to lift up and rotate that handguard latch around to disengage it
> also handguards aren't completely tactical BUT still has provisions for affixing sections of rails aside and bottom has a small piece of rail for verticle grip, so overall more than enough
> that it's basically a Kalashnikov fork in two piece receiver design, means our jawans can easily be trained on it for any field strip level maintenance
> that ergonomically it's same as INSAS with that placements of 1A SLR chhap folding knob charging handle and fire selector, so training our guys on it wouldn't take much efforts
> that it has INSAS styled flip- up aperture sight and fixed front post, so training...as said above
> and all criticism of muh fits and finish... 😒 guess folks here haven't even looked much at all available photos in this year of 2025 to say such nonsensical things... it's already miles better than what we got previously in INSAS here
> that it feeds from same INSAS pattern 5.56x45mm magazines and fires same ammunition (hopefully it also fires 5.56x45mm INSAS ammo along with NATO spec 5.56x45mm, unique among all contenders), so commonality is also here (although old school INSAS magazines are notoriously bad for cracking up and reliability issues, nowadays FAB made polymer magazines are coming to take their place, plus new lines of non transparent black coloured INSAS magazines are already there, so overall a great chance to ease up already cumbersome logistics here)
> that it's got a side folding buttstock from factory configuration, yeah yeah it's not so tactical as it doesn't have adjustable length, but for a short handy weapon like this it's overall fine, huh...BSF inducted thousands of 9mm Beretta MX4 "carbines" that already has fixed buttstock and feeds from (for us) proprietary Beretta 92 pattern extended magazines that we also had to induct along with that, for example
> Niche but, it comes with a Bayonet, hehe
and last but not least
> MOST IMPORTANTLY IT'S GOING TO TAKE PLACE OF WW2 ERA STERLING "9MM CARBINES" IN OUR ARMY, AN OPEN BOLT SMG THAT HAS KILLED LOTS OF OUR JAWANS BY MISFIRES 🤷‍♂️

so in all merits, it's a perfect replacement for any domestic need for a CQB carbine in that configuration

I don't get all this stupid ill-informed complaints in tone REEE IT'S NOT AS GOOD LOOKING AS M4 OR OTHER PHOREN TACTICAL CARBINE REEE 😒
kya chahte ho bhai, jo mil raha woh itna bhi bura maal nahi hai ki ab taktikool idealism ke liye isko dar kinare karne lago, yeh bhi toh dekho ki yeh Sterling jaise kachre ki jagah lene wala hai, aur overall sab essential modern aur saath me army ko compatible ho waise features toh he hi isme...kya fakt handguards bulky hai "extended upto muzzle" nahi hain is liye taarak mehta ke popatlal ke jaise "KENSUL KENSUL" kar doge ? 🤷‍♂️

baki jisko fits, finish ka doubt hai, ya looks pasand nahi hai, unko koi photo daal kar explain nahi karne wala iss baar, khud dhund le, last time DFI pe @vampyrbladez isi carbine ko khara khota suna raha thaa tab lamba sa post daal ke ek ek cheez photo edit kar ke point kar ke bataya thaa ki jaisa criticise kar rhe ho utna bura nahi hai,

last me toh ek hi type ki baato par baar baar discuss kar ke bore ho gya hu agar itne lambe samay se defense forums par ho toh discuss na karo toh chalta hai at least cheezo ko objectively le kar samajna toh shuru karo 🤷‍♂️ agar samaj naa aae ya doubts ho toh puchh liya karo koi problem nahi hai, par yeh "criticism for sake of it, dikhne me sec c nahi and just because it's desi PSU ka maal so it must be baaaad" wala mudda ab outdated, deprecated ho gya hai...

any info on what was being offered by these respective companies for that tender?
Adani PLR i believe it would be X-95 carbine,
Jindal Taurus would be that brazilian copy of M4 named T4,
then what was on offer by ICOMM something, AWEIL (OFB successor) huh, I guess JVPC or that shortened Excalibur Mk1C pattern "Ishapore Carbine" something,
and heckin' BEL too offering some carbine now?! a desi electronics PSU offering a carbine?! better they focus in making optics instead of venturing into things they don't even have any proper understanding or experience 🤷‍♂️ (and apparently their offer is costliest of all, huh)

SSS's DMR ends up looking a lot like the banerjee's reimagined UGRAM.

...more like Soikot's reimagined Ugram looks similar to any modern era fullsized rifle of the west,

SSSD's DMR already expetedly looked like standard SR-25 // AR-10 fork of DMR

in other words, he attempted to make a desi Kalashnikov fork to have AR style tactical features and appearance, SSSD guys were already on right path with that

another magazine fed grenade launcher... 🤷‍♂️

nothing new except calibre perhaps, there was some Rheinmetall made magazine fed grenade launcher SSW40 "Hydra" that fired common 40x46mm grenades and it was a bulky beast, looked so comical with full capacity magazine

then XM25 in 25mm grenades, china has their own 30 or 35mm magazine fed grenade launcher(s), that south korean rifle+grenade launcher combo had 30mm grenades and all...

they are all bulky and with an optical sight atop even bulkier plus if you have to carry wide and long (mostly single stack) magazines of grenades it's further bulkier

this is why despite being bulky Milkor MGL and copies worked well because at least you can directly load those grenades into the revolving chambers after swinging it open instead of having to carry bulky mags in straight configuration

only notable example that comes in my mind that could have worked in magazine fed confirmation is Neopup of South Africa but even that had to compromise with 20mm grenades in rotary drum-like magazine and has reciprocating design that jumps backwards when firing and kinda awkward off-sided grip and trigger on right side

They always bring shit like this up and then proceed to never inducted them in active service. Kind of their thing

Bruh! You gotta be kidding me

JVPC and this carbine looks like one of those toy guns you find in a village fair both from a finish and design standpoint. If not for Atmanirbhar, do you really think IA's kickback genrols would actually go for this abomination!! Even airsoft rifles these days have achieved parity with the best of western firearms. I'd rather pay Caracal for their CAR-816 license manufactured by some local firm and pass it off as MII

I've seen much smaller companies with <10 employees make significantly better guns than this 💩. In a recent gun show that I attended, I came across this guy who previously worked at a mediocre firearms firm and now setup a small company where him and his brother started making rifles and carbines, all in their modified garage where they bought a bunch of used equipment for their machine shop and I kid you not, their quality was on par with the likes of PSA or BCG
Beauty is only skin deep. They passed the trails meaning its a good rifle, and for the average Indian military personnel its more than enough.

The design is sound enough for me, short stroke piston.

Bhai, ye 5.56 Insas aur 5.56 nato me kya difference hai

Noob question what is the difference between a carbine and an AR? Because even some SMGs are used as carbine irrc.

Ar is a brand name (armalite), ar style rifle is a type of assault rifle derived from ar-15,ar-10 or ar-180

Carbine is a type of assualt rifle with a shorter barrel than fully sized assualt rifle . Ex:- M16 is a full sized assualt rifle, while M-4 is a carbine made by shortening barrel of M-16

But aren't there also sub machine guns with carbine variants?

I think one of our generals should invite Ian(forgotten weapons) to come checkout the INSAS. He has stated before thats its his unfulfilled dream.
