Indian Special Forces

The thing is that the North Eastern militants might be better organized , but they still don’t have the same level of training as paki mujahids nor experience. Also not entirely sold in the china part. Maj Gen bakshi himself considers NE to be a insurgency while J and K from phase 97-03 to have been a proxy war.

Do remember in the early90s all the way till mid to even late 00s many of the paki terrorists had expereince fighting in Soviet Afghan war, they were directly funded and trained by one of the largest insurgencies.

However, I can say that north eastern militants have managed to get KIA of ours in double digits at least three times since 1980 (1982 ambush on sikh regiment, 1994 ambush on 16 maratha LI, 2015 ambush), but then again, historically North Eastern miltiants often surrendered in large groups when defeat was eminent.
They view themselves more as a professional military than as revolutionaries, which is why they sign treaties and surrender as a unified group. They don’t see their cause as something worth dying for in a suicidal manner; it’s a completely different mindset. Since they believe their struggle is primarily political, they know it could dissolve if public support fades, though that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

This is the clearest explanation I’ve encountered so far......

"It would be reasonable to assess and hope that with the death of Isak Swu in 2016, and the squeezing of the NSCN(K) by security forces from both India and Myanmar, the insurgency is in its final phase. However, tribal and ethnic loyalties are still deeply rooted and will be the biggest stumbling blocks in developing a cohesive Naga identity and reaping the benefits of economic prosperity. Contrary to public perception that China no longer looms large onthe north-east horizon with its support for the Naga secessionist movement, there is still a free flow of arms from southern China into Nagaland and Manipur. Bibhu Prasad Routray, a security analyst with a focus on tracking terror and insurgent networks, argues in a recent piece that Beijing could well be ‘gradually unveiling a grand design to revive the battered (north-east) insurgencies’. Going on to highlight rather alarmingly, he cautions,‘Provision of safe houses, supply of weapons and even playing a more prominent role in directing attacks on security forces could be emerging as Beijing’s instrumentalities to disturb peace in the fragile north-east.’ Clearly, there is little room for the security forces to let their guard low."

Book - Full Spectrum by (Ret) Air Vice Marshal Arjun Subramanyium
(PS: Thanks @Binayak95 :yo: for the recommendation, my favourite book on Indian millitary history so far)

So the main takeaways are...(about the NE insurgency)
  • It's an older politcial struggle
  • The are trained in hunting and jungle tracking since childhood
  • They think of themselves as semi nation states already (big time delulu but works on them)
  • Good infrastructure and proper care of the NE states and it's people can help take away much support from them....but not with current laws which still protect tribal identities which often times they see bigger than their Indian identity so here's the point about tribal loyalties and seeing everyone else as outsiders
  • Even if it is brought down....China will be despirate to bring about revolution and keep funding
  • India's position between the golden traingle and golden crecent of drug trafficing brings about weapons and human trafficing concerns too, especially in the north east
  • India's undermanned narcotics control bureau and lack of balls or intent to go on and do war on drugs like the US did in Honduras, El Salvador and Bolivia (which at the time had an insurgency and threat to US borders). Dont confuse it with Columbia and Mexico please

Last 3 years encounters in Jammu region only and the condition of Para SF…

That was predicted by randi rona fights on this forum.

If anyone would have taken this randi rona seriously those operators would have been saved.

You know how in one encounter Para SF got killed????

They were using Chinese torches in night to see if the other team was clear of fire!!!!!!

We should be ashamed of ourselves for getting young men killed like this.

Lol, how would they see it? They're not here on his forum. Not that they would do much about it even if they were.

I agree with most but maybe not the family part. Why did they ambush and kill Col Viplav's family?

P.S. The same militants were killed by Major Dig Rawat, KC
The PLA later issued a formal apology saying they weren't aware of the CO's wife and kid also being in the jeep. But then they said that the CO should've known better than to take his family along with him on official works.

Fir kuch karte kyu nahi, hum kya dushman hai unke? Itna analysis, breakdown, resource sharing et al ka kya faida if they just laugh away at it?

Haan but that's a generalised thing maanliya. I expect the og units to be more open to change, adopting necessary counter measures & taking feedback if needed. Idc care about freshly converted airborne units tbh. But if an officer from 9 or 1 is looking at things here and sarcastically laughing, then I have no hopes.

The cartel head is former Mexican military dude if I'm not mistaken, plus these guys are really brutal
CJNG's boss man El Mencho was never associated with military. They just happen to employ a lot of new-age tactics. Their security apparatus does focus on hiring members from Mexican and other Latin American SOF units though and are paid handsomely. Since Mexican SOF is primarily trained and modeled against their US counterparts along with the close proximity to US, they pretty much have access to all the latest gear for small arms and PPE

They do struggle procuring larger and more lethal platforms though like APCs' or MPVs' which is why we're seeing Ford F-150s armored to their fullest

That doesn’t absolve them of anything. They are fucking murderers and scumbags.
