Indian Special Forces

2.5 to 3 I like to belive but a lot shorter for officers compared to jawans
Some people get an extended tenure too
I really don't like this tenure crap .
Why can't it be setup like delta ?
Unit reports to Head-Quarters SFF which makes it a deputational basis unit. "Why" you ask... well the army has 14-15 permanent battalions that would do the same job for them in 90% of the operations they're doing 🤣.

it works somehow I'll tell you why

14 Int or Det as well as older CIA MACV-SOG ones were tenure based

They were op billets not a career.

For many reasons, inlcuding that ki the stuff should be confidential and the old folks out of loop to waht these covert units do now.

Instead the Indian army needs to level up it's SF capabilities, not for R&AW to have it's SG be used for what our SF should be doing. R&AW is an int gathering, agent running organizaiton and SG and SFF are paramillitary groups of it

This entire game isn’t about LARPing but capabilities , the sorry state of Indian SF reflects on the ground their tactical and operational deficiencies

I’m absolutely not saying that SF should be used for these internal roles at all but if it’s apparently the SOP to bring them in to every op then they should absolutely be the very definition of ability and should end all these in decisive action. What lessons are these ‘special’ personnel learning and the enemy if all these ops lead to objective failure?

Using them in these operations is the objective failure
