I would suggest you train MMA first and then try to spar against a trained knife fighter using a blunt knife.
Your fallacies would be dispelled very very quickly.
I didn't call MMA jackshit, I called MMA jackshit for fighting against a blunt or edged weapon. It's a sport with a lot of rules.
On the street, there are no rules.
If one doesn't train that way from the start, one gets killed in the street.
I am a MMA practitioner. Have been doing and sparring since a year now.
I have already mentioned that knife attacks are the most difficult to defend or counter. MMA surely is not a sure shot guarantee for defending such an attack and so is "KALI" or any martial arts. The best thing would be to get away from the attacker. But In a scenario where running is not an option MMA will surely help.
The element of surprise is with attacker if the attacker is successful you are probably dead doesn't matter you have gun or know KALI or MMA.
But if you are able to somehow escape or avoid the first shot MMA training will give you a chance.
We train to make our body a weapon. Increase our reflexes and explosive strength.
The shin bone is as good as a base ball bat. One can seriously hurt if not kill someone with roundhouse on ribs. One good lever shot or hook on head can make the attacker fall to ground gasping for breath or atleast numb him in order to make an escape. So obvously it's not jackshit.Thats simply ridiculous assumption.
The attacker has a weapon and you have a weapon. You make your body a weapon. If don't think like that. You have not trained enough.
