Indian Special Forces

Are we at least going to see more of x95s in para 2 years down the line?
X-95 I don't think SF will induct, newer Tar-21 FTs were procured to replace older Tar-2(I) with ITL-MARs/P-Rail and to also equip the erstwhile Airborne units as they had older Tar-21(I)s and Ak-63Ds in 50:50 ratio, these are a stopgap for the time being new AR pattern rifle and a Carbine is procured!

M4s will get URGI mods or eventually get replace by Arads, newer Tar-21 FTs will remain for atleast another decade. Carbines under the 415K carbine tender for the whole army will also reach the SFs first.

Yeah but the domains of SFF(SG) and SPG is such that they selected FN Scar-L/Hs to fulfill their requirements. PARA SF, GARUDs and even MARCOs now have Sig-716i as an alternate option for Scar-H.
Any reason why scar didnt see a massive use in indian context? All of the elite forces bought it and just went "nah".

Not stating that this is what will follow regarding the M4, I've written 'M4s will get URGI mods or eventually will get replaced by Arad'.:D
Ah okay, got it. Honestly, I'm pretty sure that ain't happening. I doubt that the majority of the people in the Army who have decision-making abilities right now or soon, have the tactical awareness to understand the need for such upgrades. Only way we get better stuff is if we buy the whole weapon system off the shelf with attachments.

Two major reasons are:

- Small Arms scandal in which a middle-man's email was leaked, he was talking about FN targeting SFF for future small arms sales.

- Diplomatic failures of the previous govt. and Belgians + Germans for HK/FN small arms.

Also all the Steyr AUG-A1s, FN Scar-L/Hs with SF and SFTS are from the trial lot which was procured among many other small arms for evaluation before Tar-21 was ultimately selected.

SFF got it FN and HKs through 3rd party(my assumption) as Belgians and Germans had cleared told no to any sale of small arms to SFF.

NSG got its share directly from the OEM as atlast they agreed to sell their weapons to a Federal CI-CT force and not the military.

Yup, URGI is unlikely but trials were taken W.R.T. Arads and Galil Ace.

Yeah. I'm hopeful for the Arad. Cause
1) It is Israeli. Therefore, the import lobby should love it as much as they loved the Tavor.
2) It can be made in India by PLR systems.
Therefore, it fulfills both political and under-the-table requirements of government red tape. @mods, feel free to remove this message if it reads too honest.

This and Arad is just NG M4, so better to shift to it than upgrade M4s and rag-tag em for another 2 or more decades...
