What most disheartening is these are supposed to be our Best of the best, who will defend us against fully equipped Chinese forces and its poddles.
Instead these guys are coming out as fake/ con-artists/posers with virtually no knowledge of how to handle/use simple small arms, let alone advanced gears that are expected of them.
PS: Earlier only Infantry modernisation thread was depressing to read, now even this Special Forces thread is turning out to be a bigger black pill.

I dont know why Indian Officers specially of Army and Airforce branch consider it a disease to learn or to ask.

Its a pretty simple thing to do.

They could have easily asked the US military for help in setting up sniper school,low flying courses,cqb schools etc but they just wont ask.

They wont be embarrassed asking for tech but will be very embarrassed asking for the training to use the tech 100%.

Whatever the dumbery is going on for idk if its corruption as it seems or really dumb people who have no decision is costing us young lives.

From the rank of Colonel up to the Colonel of the regtt there is a lot of margin to arm twist for weapons.

Everyone who comes here loves the nation and the army and to be honest the kind of things Indian Army is doing is hurting our already fucked up image of being weak people.

Most of us who see nothing behind a maroon beret and Tavor need to realise the kind of Meme material we provide does a lot of damage specially against a country like China.

China didnt fight this time coz you were strong..china avoided in Corona times coz it was weak.

The great operation we claim to do in 2020 was 100 % American intel and our special ops guys climbing and taking mountains.

I beg to differ on the assertion that its not personal issue but only organisational problem.
Issue is those guys choose to fake things instead of asking their friends/mentors with knowledge of how to set up the kit properly. This shows they don’t have any interest in learning and correctin their own deficiency in professional skill. They choose easiest way and just faked as if they know everything believing that all others are even stupider than themselves.

In our line of work, we just can’t fake our knowledge as lives depends on our skills and even a slight lapse in misjudgment of our capability can cost lives invoking harsh criminal penalties. We have faced daily abuses, harassment and even physical punishment in our training days for trivial mistakes. But it’s what made us understand and improve our skills and up to a point, fearless of death.

I mean, all this assertion of “respect our soldiers” is all well and good but it’s not us civilians who after patting their backs, send them in waves completely unprepared and under equipped in front of enemy LMGs and Tanks, to be slaughtered like cattle.

I rather want these soldiers to show interest in improving their job skills by acquiring knowledge from outside their dated organisation, and then demand proper training and equipments.

I would rather be with friends who will call me MC/BC and all sor of slurs and force me to learn than cheer me and throw me in the ditch.
We just cant blame others all the time for not even trying to learn and improve.

Look most jawans are from very humble backgrounds with even a humbler education to learn anything at all from a American English Youtube video.

Lets say a jawan even manages to learn something then also i doubt that the jawan can teach or share that something as he will be seen as a rebel.

Ours is a Pre 1947 era fauj where the jawans are abused if they share ideas.This is not a open minded company of corporate where you and me work and if we put a mail to our reporting manager it will be sent to higher ups and we will be in the Employee of the month list.

Secondly,inferiority complex makes you do stupid things which i see our operators do while clicking pics..Do you think they dont get wowed when they would see how a western operator operates?

A major figure like Col Shivendra was also humbled by them..think about a poorly educated jawan.

This whole issue is the responsibility of officers to get that training and pressure Army Hq to send them abroad for these courses and upon their return they should set up schools.

Doesn’t seem realistic to ever get on par with top tier Western units (five eyes+French/Germans) but MARCOs at least could seemingly get on terms with the second rung of the Western units- Greek, Romanians etc

Our military, as you mentioned with a colonial legacy, is deeply hierarchical and resistant to bottom-up change. Even if officers recognize the need for reform, they may face bureaucratic hurdles, reluctance from higher command. Has that not happened before ?
