The only thing which forces us to be non commital on what to do is because of our economic interdependence with US. And that is because China is economically what we want to become, there is little or no complementarity at all. This is the actual pain point.

Until a few years back it even wanted to take over Russian territories. China is a poisonous snake and you can never ally with a snake. The mightiest dragon slayer, the crusher of forts, the warrior among warriors, the king of heaven, etc. And thus India is his Airavat. We have to behave like that & be prepared to crush the snake named China. There is zero chance of ever being in peace with that snake.
