Kaveri Engine

There are exactly three or four countries capable of manufacturing them—Germany, Nipponland, and Burgerland. There aren’t many options here. It’s not as if we can make progress just by importing machinery; as I mentioned, simply having a hammer and raw materials doesn’t mean one knows how to create a product. And every machine has to be customized and tailored with aftersales support which neither of them of are known exactly for.
I know one indian company make cnc machine

Watch the full video. This GC UK Devnath says something like in the current form, Kaveri is 1400/1600kgs and is overweight by 800kgs and has a current thrust of 85-90kn.

I think he was under the influence of drugs & alcohol during that interview. In the same interview he said India has already got CNC machines from USA. We haven't even signed the GE F414 engine deal yet.

I think it will be unwise to take his claims seriously.

1400 or 1600 kg ?
The M53-5 Snecma engine is a 90Kn engine and weight 1500 kg more or less, so Kaveri may be in the M53 league.
Not a world class, but not a crap.

the most recent weight of kaveri reported everywhere (~1180 kgs), is it the weight of the dry variant (without a/b section), unlike how its reported for other engines of its class (say f404 / rd33 etc.)?

Just to set the record straight all this data we're fretting on is from the early to mid 2010s . There have been a lot of developments since regarding the material composition , mode of mfg etc which will be reflected in the total weight of the TF.

However we haven't used all that improvement in technology to build a FULL TF including the AFB . RN the AFB section is being fabricated by Brahmos Aerospace . We'd know what the actual weight is once the dry section built by Godrej is mated to the AFB section being fabricated by Brahmos. This should happen in 2-3 years from now .

He probably meant 80kg and 40kg.

Gawd ! 2 to 3 years, Will I ever be alive to see Kaveri flying and being productized ? Pardon the pessimism...
