Movies and TV series

Jake Gyllenhaal and Edward Norton are both one of the most under appreciated but Phenomenal actors in Hollywood.

Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing in Donnie Darko! Source Code, Prince of Persia and Nightcrawler.

Edward Norton's Hulk was the best Hulk and He was amazing in Kingdom of Heaven and Primal Fear!

Yup, even I like Edward Norton as hulk over Mark. Never felt the anger in Mark's face.

The first 4 episodes are basically filler with no movement in Plot. Only the last four episode finally contributed to the Plot. Since S5 is last I think they just made S4 as filler to move the plot for grand finale in S5.

Few good things are finally we are seeing comic accurate Butcher on Rampage, Homelander with his upcoming ego trip in White House and finally Soldier Boy is coming Back.

Bad: Arc of Hughie Campbell is done very poorly. Guy got SA twice and lost his father but his girlfriend treated him like shit.
Frenchi back story was so stupid and boring.

Started watching Shogun series. Completed 3 episodes until now, and loved it.

This is one of the best TV series to come out in a while, if you are done with this watch the old one as well. It is quite interesting, just that the old one doesn't give subtitles like the new version. I like the character of Usami Fuji in new one :)

Here's a small list of good SciFi shows.
Also, I'm looking for SciFI shows to really sink my teeth into. Recommendations anyone?

Dark Matter

  • Nice SciFi concept
  • Engaging story, binged it all in one sitting
  • Good Acting, and who doesn't like Jennifer Connelly
  • Newer show, last episode aired a month ago.
  • Falters in the Final Act imo

The Expanse

  • One of the best SciFi shows out there imvho.
  • Been watching Expanse since before Amazon saved it after the fan-campaign. So you will really see the massive-budget reflected in the seasons after Amazon bought it from SyFy.
  • Hard SciFi, so it gives you a sense of, "our descendants might witness something like this..."
  • Thriller, politics, socio-politics, detectives and conspiracies, conceptual scifi, cool ultra-realistic space battles, engaging characters, multiple povs like in Game of Thrones(in fact G.R.R. Martin praised it).
  • Some of the story has been altered and is not like in the books on which it is based. The authors in fact cucked-out(for Hollywood clout) and completely agreed with the showrunners' decision to the alteration. They were sperging-out on twitter I think, after fans noticed the changes. These alterations that might have been for woke and other reasons.

Planetes

  • Another Hard SciFI show, or rather anime
  • From the writer of Vinland Saga
  • Surprisingly realistic SciFi; action and comedy initially but goes deep into geopolitics and colonization of space, terrorism, thriller and a superb throughline will be apparent by the final arc
  • Initially, a few episodes might seem episodic and some anime tropes

Severance.webp

Try "Severance" on Apple TV.

A clever concept that has been executed brilliantly, and has several underlying and tantalizing mysteries that gradually unravel as the season progresses, culminating in one of the most satisfying season finales I have seen in the last 5 years. The excellent performances from the entirety of the cast, brilliant set design, and dynamic screenplay are just additional cherries on top.

There is just one season for now, with the second season slated for release early next year.

Please suggest some crime thriller
Series preferred
Police/Detective series:
1. Law & Order - both OG one and the spinoff like SVU
2. NCIS
3. CSI - main and spinoffs
4. True Detective

Litter lighter ones:
1. 911
2. The Rookie
3. Brooklyn 99 - this comedy oriented

Yeah, seen it.
Very original, and has a uniquely dystopian vibe.

Again, binged it in one sitting but I did feel elements of "mystery-box storytelling" near the end.

All are miniseries:

BlackBird - True Crime miniseries about a serial killer and how the cops try to find out about his crimes.
The Night of - A guy gets accused of a crime, and his quest for being acquitted.
The Outsider - Based on a Stephen King's novel. Horror-crime.
True Detective Season 1 - IMHO, the best HBO has ever produced. This is technically not a miniseries, but to me it is - season 1 is where it peaked, you won't miss anything by ignoring the other seasons.
