DandankAranya the forest extending from chota Nagpur pathar to south bastar to Sravasti in west was inhibited by people Demons, who used to live forests and kill and torment people. They were adept in use of Demonic power to hide and create violence. They were proxy of Demon king Ravana living in very South. Whole realm until the mahaudadhi and jaladhi (Arab sea and bay of Bengal) and Sagar in south (Indian ocean) was under jurisdiction of ikshavaku, whose capital was in Ayodhya.

I remember few stories from my childhood .
A forester was called to the check gate by his juniors saying they have caught some illigal timber . It was a trap set by naxalites . They tied the forester on the check gate . Cut his hands while he was still alive , tortured him for some time with bidi and then shot him . May be some disputes over illigal timbering or something .. it was in broad day light . Dozens of villegers were looking from distance of 100 meters . This incident had such impact that a beautiful tourist place nearby became desolate . I remember going there on bike and noticing red flags on some trees on the side of the road . When parents knew I went there I was beaten with stick 🤣..

There is a story from a tea shop not far from the police station in the town . Police SI and few home guard asked few people who were drinking tea with them about their where about .. they directly said we work in jungle , we live there and smiled . The police people just left the shop .

They also used to come and eat in someone's house we knew (everybody knew). A govt teacher who lived near by forest areas . You got no choice there .

Over years multiple CRPF camps were established . We heard less of the naxalite activities . I remember being very excited seeing crpf people on bike with their assault rifles going in line .

i've got a few from a few decades ago.

- parents of a classmate of mine were travelling thru forest area in a car. naxals had taken over a checkpost , lowered the gate. as soon as the car, stopped shot his mother and father in the front seat of the car, they passed away. after shooting naxals came close to verify, realised it was not the politician for whom the ambush was laid for, said sorry and left. unfortunate for my classmate, his parents were travelling in same color model and make of the car that politician was supposed to pass thru that road that day.

- one of my relatives who used to live in forest area, naxals would send message that around a date they would be visiting the village. so the family would leave bags of rice and food supplies in the outhouse away from the house, days in advance. they would come in the night, make their own food, eat and leave. one peculiar thing about naxals i am told, is that at any point in time only 2-3 would eat in a band of 25, all others would be on sentry duty. so for the band to finish a meal, it would take entire night. in return, my relative's family is not killed for being a land owner.

It's good the govt and CAPFs are putting at end to this plague, people of this country don't deserve to live in fear and be victimized by commies like this
