The Chinese have much more experience in manufacturing fifth generation aircrafts than the Russians. It was already criticized by IAF a decade ago, the same IAF which has been a loyal and bulk customer of Sukhoi and Russian aviation. To further add skepticism, not even the Russians are buying it in the numbers they should be if they want to challenge the Americans. Is merely possessing a fifth generation fighter, even if it is a flawed, untested, openly declared as an underpowered product enough of a deterrent for China and a PAF that has somehow gotten hold of the J-35 before Chinese sixth generation fighters have been launched? Or is this irrational desperation?

I think DRDO has a better idea today of what they require vis-a-vis 5th gen tech.
