IAF said something like “it is our job to only hit targets and not do BDA” . That was a horrible statement to make. Have you seen any other capable AF around the world that makes such statements? IAF needs to be made more professional and hi-tech and full of fighting spirit. Of course damage assessment is a key requirement of modern air wars. The thing that annoys me is they think they have won brownie points by saying things like that. They do not understand the importance of strategic communications. Op Sindoor objective must be to establish permanent deterrence to prevent Porki Army and its terrorist battalions from ever striking Indians within India in any capacity. Every infiltration attempt needs to be treated as an act of war. I dont think Modi and the CCS are thinking this way. That is a giant problem.

See this is why I keep iterating it doesn't matter whether choinese or muricans (rumor engine) provide pakis with 5th gen fighters or air defense systems. There's a limit on how much shit can be peddled to this banana republic for free; and it doesn't help that this joke of a country has laughable indigenous developments and production capacity.

It also doesn't help that their strategic gan..depth is so shallow their entire country is under standoff munitions range, without any credible ABM capability. Whatever token acquisitions they make, will be simply overwhelmed by saturated all aspect superior firepower.​

So be it,i remember i used to discuss this on DFI(now discontinued) on the india-pak conflict thread that what PAK used to think is they could kill small number of Indian soldier and civilians on daily basis and negate any Indian response thinking "modi military" will attack,only when say 40 Indian soldiers are killed

If Dassault goes solo in their FCAS program, then they will look for more opportunity to export Rafales. 6th generation fighter project will cost lot of money, give or take minimum 30 billion Euros just for research nd development. Dassault will scrape every penny possible through Rafale sales. Whether the recent developments of them exporting fuselage production to TASL and Falcon private jet production to Reliance aerostructures has anything to do with expecting more orders is anyone's guess.

Dassault will definitely look for more orders and likely for joint development of Jet Engines for our 5th generation program. Let us see whether they break with Germans to go solo. Rafale was also born out of the same disagreements. We can't rule out the same happening again.

Which was not the smartest thing to do, strategically. We should have negotiated, haggled and twisted their arm to stay in the programme, instead of throwing a hissy fit and throw our toys out of the pram.

We would be currently flying a couple of squadrons of a 5th gen fighter, had we stayed in the programme and worked with the Ruskies.

CAATSA etc would not have been an issue as well.

I believe the development costs are either 100 billion Euros per party or 100 billion Euros consolidated to be split equally between all member countries.

The French members over at Strat Front believe DA will eventually go solo. It's just waiting for Macron to relinquish office. Till then they will continue with this charade.

Ideally what you say is true but the French have a different perspective. They've already amortised the costs of development of the Rafales. They're now reaping in the surplus.

As far as the FCAS goes that's still in the future . All these calculations will be done once they have decided to opt out of a collaboration. That's still some time away meaning time is a luxury we can't afford. Neither can the French but they haven't realised that yet.
