They happen more than you think, it's only they are decided on local level with some token amount like say 5 lakh and then the matter is closed with informal aggreement, then both boy and girl carry on with their lives by marrying somewhere else.

And even if the case goes to court the advocates are sane not like the ones in metro so they keep the cases in limit with some wiggle room for both the parties. But in metros we have ngo's and liberal jamat who can go to any length just to satisfy their ego. And majority of the cases will have outside court settlement so the girl can be married somewhere else same with boy.
