Why is this?
I assume the towed one is made of heavier and stronger alloy, the SPH gun is lighter and the alloy is weaker or is there any other reason?

Isn't SPH mainly for the plains ? If we fight in J and K.. Guess SPH has limited utility..
M777 Like light howitzers would be more important, if we have to move those guns and capture parts of pok..

Actually destroying the gun is difficult. The gun is in the end a large hunk of metal. Shrapnel and concussive force doesn't do much to the gun . If commandos are going to destroy artillery guns they would be given thermite grenades or something. Counter battery on a towed gun position aims at killing the gun crews not the gun . On the other hand if the truck of the mounted howitser is destroyed it is effectively out of action and will have to be towed away for depot level repair. And I have seen ceasers getting cooked in ukrane .. those aint getting repaired.

But we should have way more SPH than the pigs na. 4trillion economy with domestic options but sitting with thenga is embarrassing.

A gun becomes sheer metal when gunner is not available or there is no ammunition. Therefore, the primary target ever is cutting the supply lines.
