Drop your ideas here conceptual warship, submarine, aircraft carrier, Guns, Tanks, Missiles, Helicopters, Aircrafts, Drones, basically Anything that you think will be helpful for the Indian Armed Forces

We should really consider buying the abandoned An-70 design from the Ukrainians like we did with SCE-200.

After the fall of Soviet Union the project was supposed to be a joint Russian - Ukranian project but it was later abandoned by Russia and Ukraine was forced to return all the money Russia had invested in the program, and Russia terminated it's any financial, legal as well as intellectual property rights to the Project.

Right now due to the war the Ukranians are in dire need of money and are more likely to sell these designs for quite cheap, given that they were offering the Chinese to buy the design as far back as 2003 but the Chinese decided to go their own route with Y 20.
We have a golden chance right now to buy a design that can fulfill almost all of our cargo hauling needs.
and It's not like An 70 is some purely theoretical plane either a lot of work has been done on the project. It has completed over 700 flights and logged nearly a 1000 hours of flight,

Various Variants of the An 70 exist, we can either buy the entire program (and all the related variants) or focus specifically on the Variants we need like An-77 and An-170 which can replace our old IL-76's and complement C-17's and given that C-17's production line is now closed and there is no other plane in the market, even in the near future, realistically speaking An 170 is our only option.

MY FANBOY WISHLIST

An-70T-300 A version of the An-70T-100 with two American CFM56-5C4 engines,
Can fulfill our current MTA requirements with a payload capacity of 30 Tons
An-77 An export version of the An-70 with four CFM56-5C4 engines and a crew of 2-3 people.
Range of 3000 km with a Payload capacity of 45 Tons, can come in handy where Bigger planes like C 17 are a overkill and would be expensive to operate

An-170 variant of the An-70 with a fuselage
extended by 8 meters, more powerful D-227 engines,
and a modified landing Gear
Range of over 5500km with a Payload Capacity of 80 tons (60 tons Normal load) and a MTOW of 234 Tons
Can easily Replace our ageing IL-76 and complement our C17s

A really detailed coverage of the An 70 program by a Soviet era Military Aviation magazine Kryl'ia Rodiny

Add this system on bmp /truck/zorawar chassis replace 30 mm gun with l 70 40mm with programmable ammo and add atleast 8 vshorads (also add cheap laser guided rockets for cheap drones like vampire sam) also add a radar
There comes very effective spaa gun for you capaple of countering cheap drones and helicopter and low flying aircraft and missile and rockets
This thing can be made on stallion truck or drdo whap too

was thinking about this concept for many years, serbians did it.

old post of mine from 2016..
What are the chances the old L70 guns are not discarded and put them on pick up trucks like how haji's are doing in Syria and Iraq.
this one should be able to move along with IBG in offensive role as well, since L/70 has 4km range.

Serbian truck mounted L/70 40 mm cannon.

How feasible would a tankette be in the insurgency rich environment in India? Recently had the pleasure to see the Wiesel in action and was wondering, would RR/AR/CoBRA units be thankful to have a mobile firepower unit that could easily transverse the narrow terrain in Kashmir or North east?
These are up armoured three crew units but Indian versions could feature a dual crew with RCS units doing the major firefighting.

It would be extremely weird. Not to mention the fact that insurgents would die laughing at a "chhota tanki" before dying of a 84mm.

All the aspects of an CI/CT Ops

Protection
90% of the times you'd get fired by 7.62x39mm rounds. Rare case, it would be a full power rifle round. Even if somehow there's a chance of RPG attack, then also you can have RPG cage.

There's nothing more in protection that a tankette can offer that's already not on a MRAP. And in case you need something more than a MRAP's armour in a CI/CT Ops then you have much bigger things to worry about than armour.

Armament
For a CI/CT you don't need anything other than a automatic (for suppressive fire so that people can advance), a heavy (to deal with defilade targets) and a precision weapon (sniper or DMR to actually shoot the insurgents) on a vehicle.

A MRAP is sufficient for all three. Anything on a tankette would be overkill.

Mobility
A tankette is kind of worst of both worlds; it would be slow because it's tracked but unlike a proper tracked tank, even a small obstacle can be an anti-tank ditch for it.

A MRAP would be much faster, can easily match the mobility of tankette in the terrain we operate and perhaps most important; can continue working even after a wheel gets blown by IED.

Crew
You need boots on ground. It's better to have a single moderately armoured vehicle for both carrying the troops and providing fire support as opposed to having a heavily armoured one for fire support and a lightly for troops.

But atleast file a provisional patent before doing that or otherwise you'd be left posting on DFB all while Pundit Jee would be enjoying sweet royalty money
