Project Vishnu: Long Range Hypersonic Cruise Missile (1 Viewer)

At Mach 8 any point in pakistan can be hit within 10 minutes.

I know someone will ask

Mach 1 is 1236km/hr
Mach 8 is 1236x8 is 9888km/hr

Pakistan is about 1125km wide

1126/9888 is 11.3 minutes
That's the time to reach pak- iran border or pak-afgan border, we don't need to reach their borders, everything is so near to our borders. After op Sindoor, they said they had only 30 seconds to decide whether the Brahmos is nuke tipped or not. Taking that into consideration and 3 times the speed of Brahmos, they will only get 10 seconds to decide whether to commit suicide or get killed in action.

I just have a simple question for fellow DFB'ians. What exactly is the difference between ET-LDHCM and Brahmos 2 that we are developing as both have same ranges and speed as per available public forum specs?

BrahMos-2 doesn't exist, and is not happening. Vishnu is the only HCM under works. The former will just be Russian Zircon modified like Oniks was modified and improved for BrahMos.

Bram 2 intented stats are met by ET-LDHCM so would they'd till go ahead with Zircon mod for BrahMos 2 ?.

Iran and hypersonics? Are you talking about ballistic missile terminal velocity?

And any notam which was issued for this test?
about half dozen iranian missiles that hit israel were classified as hypersonic; easily evading israeli defenses.

While it's difficult to pinpoint the exact number, Iran is believed to possess a limited number of operational hypersonic missiles, with the Fattah-1 being the most prominent one. Iran claims to have multiple hypersonic missiles, including the Fattah-1 and Fattah-2, but experts are not fully convinced about their operational capabilities.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Fattah-1:
This is Iran's first claimed operational hypersonic missile, with reported speeds of Mach 15 and the ability to evade most air defenses.

  • Fattah-2:
An advanced version of the Fattah, reportedly with enhanced maneuverability and precision.
    • Other Hypersonic Missiles:
Iran has also unveiled other hypersonic missiles, such as the Khorramshahr-Khyber, but their operational status and capabilities are not fully confirmed, according to Euronews.

There was a US led NPT kind of plan for hypersonic in the offing under Biden iirc.
impossible to implement, maybe because so many countries had hypersonic weapons and IUSA does not?
USA has clearly lost the hypersonic race? Too much focius on planes; which can be destroyed by hypersonic missiles in minutes if sitting outside an airbase or even parked inside. Indian strikes on paki airbases
destroyed atleast 6 f-16's (unconfirmed) and quickly covered up. From an Indian launch pakis would have less than 10 minutes to FIND PILOTS for all the planes and evacuate them.

US is quite advanced in hypersonic as it currently working on reusable hypersonic engines and turbojet Ramjet Hypersonic combined engine. They are light years ahead of others in this domain particularly metallurgy and fluid dynamics. Disposable Hypersonics are going to be expensive whereas resuable hypersonics more viable and effective.

Iran does not have hypersonic "cruise" missiles .
Looks like they have ballistic gliders or marvs.. and all ballistic missiles have hypersonic terminal velocity

How can you reuse a hypersonic cruise/scramjet missile that is meant to destroy a target ?

All iranian hypersonics are ballistic missiles, Iran seems to have mass produced them. These
missiles devastated Israel. Houthis have also been using these ballistic missiles against israrel.

Yep. Their fear of hypersonic missiles is mostly because of two reasons one their wish to be the sole possessor of such weapons. Or atleast keep it to only anglosphere. And Secondly most of the air defence systems in the world including US's own state of the art ADs aren't really capable of intercepting those that successfully as of now.

They didn't devastate Israel. Handful of them got through in the main cities and casualties were mainly in the outward lying areas which were not fully covered by the AD.

Iran were firing only a few of them at the end as most of the launchers got taken out and the IAF were roaming all over western Iran searching for them .

According to Daniel Davis 1,3 of major Israeli infrastructure was destroyed ??? Refineries, ports,
Hospitals command centers, intelligence HQ etc…

hehe...pakistan length is approx 1000 km (north to south) nd width is 450 km (east to west). why we hv to target pakistan in their length? we will fire our missile to its width (450 km east to west) from our western border.

let do some math:-
mach 1 aircraft can complete distance in 1 minute = 20592 meter or 20.592 km.
mach 8 aircraft can complete distance in 1 minute = 20.592×8
= 167.616 km.
so pakistan furthest western part (450 km) can target in from our border = 450/167.616
= 2.69 minute.

coz we will definitely fire vishnu hypersonic missile from 100 to 200 km far away from LOC. so we can hit furthest western part of pakistan in 3.3 minutes (if we fire from 100 km away from LOC) to 3.88 minutes (If we fire from 200 km away from LOC).

Mach 8 is top cruising speed.
It will slow down as it enters terminal phase.
And will require a booster to get to altitude and speed to activate scramjet in initial phase, then scramjet will have to accelerate to achieve that mach ~8 cruising speed.

So, 4-5 minutes for instead of 2.69 minutes.
