A year later, I STILL can't get over how sleek & contemporary this thing looks!
When I first heard that DRDO was developing a new light tank, I expected to see a BMP-2 hull with a 105mm turret slapped on. But the Zorawar blew my expectations away, completely.
That said, I hope we get this to production soon! We need tanks like this in large numbers not just for the LAC, but also for thrusts into Gilgit-Baltistan, towards Skardu. Four flights of C-17s are enough to deploy a Zorawar light tank platoon directly to Kargil via air, on short notice (C-17 can manage up to ~35 tons to Kargil airstrip). We haven't had a capability like this in recent memory.
Fitted with onboard ATGMs and/or Loitering Munition launchers, the Zorawar LT brings an unparalleled capability to the table when the conversation to liberate PoK starts for real. But till then, yeah let's continue to pretend this is just for LAC
We'll soon have a new poster boy to recreate this image...maybe even a better one, with a much more North-Western backdrop:
