Banned only after galawan. Chinese aggression was blessing in disguise. Had they kept their claws hidden we would've been suffering from double whammy of CCP and American controlled fb-twitter-tiktok propaganda and data privacy.
- government of India since 2014 has an official policy of "people to people" engagement, originally it was about diaspora engagement, then it was about bringing in tourists.
- since 2014, people to people appears more than 150 times in foreign ministry related statements,
- "modi seeking approval" can also be read as outreach, the guy has been doing outreach programmes for 50 years, he knows more about it than what we think we do.one can argue joining social media platforms is part of the same thought process.
- if modi not joining koo is creating such emotions, then why does koo winning 1 crore prize in "atmanirbhar app" contest in jul/aug 2020 for coming second place cannot be read as modi giving koo seed money. what is more important, seed money or modi joining.
- it's galwan incident that added to koo's appeal.
- whether modi backed it or not, government of India backed them since many government departments had created their accounts on koo. that was largely attributed to backlash against twitter.
- by 2022, koo was already struggling, their revenue was a few lakhs for 200-300 employees they had.
i don't wish to speculate on modi's behalf, but these are the things that are in public domain. modi's joining wouldn't have made any difference to it's eventual shutdown. koo couldn't monetise their engagement.
chingari came first place in the same competition in 2020, no one says why didn't modi join chingari
