"435 Arrested for Child Sexual Exploitation Material Crimes in Joint Crackdown Across 6 Countries"

Police forces from six Asian countries, including South Korea, Japan, and Thailand, conducted a special crackdown on child sexual exploitation material crimes, resulting in the arrest of over 400 individuals.

The Korean National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced that, over a five-week period starting February 24, a joint operation with police from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong led to the arrest of 435 individuals involved in online child sexual exploitation material crimes.

Of those arrested, 374 were apprehended by South Korean police, all of whom were Korean nationals. Thirteen of them were taken into custody.

By type of offense, 258 were caught for possessing or viewing child sexual exploitation material, making it the most common offense. Another 74 were arrested for producing such material, including editing explicit content using photos of minors.

By age group, teenagers made up the largest portion with 213 individuals, followed by 127 in their twenties.
