Actually you made a good point if not holos then what?fixed magnification sights?

Every unit has couple of thermals that's what Army is going with one with Sniper another one with Sig

Alright then I have three :-
  1. Any plans of standalone furniture production like Remmington/Magpul for upgrading rifles like Insas and OFB sniper rifles?
  2. Any plans for inhouse HWS/RDS/LPVO production with ToT from established firms?
  3. Anyone venturing into the fields of Comtacs? That is a virtually untapped market in India.

Pretty sure our arty guys would appreciate some ear pro. damn every arty video that comes out I always wonder how bad their tinnitus is.

7.62 × 39 is not a better round.
7.62×39 is a very good round for counter insurgency operation but very bad for conventional warfare.
It was a round designed for semi literate militia, it is more suited for pray and spray tactics instead of conventional war.

5.45 x 39 or 5.56 x 45 are round better suited for conventional warfare where objective is to engage and suppress your evemy at long distance.
(as in a war you do not fire on your enemy but in the direction of your enemy to avoid casualties.)

5.56 x 45 had effective range of 400 - 500 meter as it fire light but fast projectile.

7.62 x 39 has effective range of 200-300 meter as it fires a slower but heavier projectile which result in excessive bullet drop after 300 meters.

So to compensate draw backs of of 7.62 x 39 army need a complimentary rifle to engage enemies at longer distance(700 - 800 meter) which will be done 7.62 x 51 firing rifle.

Army also need additional large amount of 7.62 x 51 firing rifle for designated marksman role to retire vintage dragunov rifles.

One mustn’t compare US Civilian Market prices to actual prices paid in India. FAB AK kit may not cost as much, but it’s not cheap at all, most of the times it’s cheaper to buy a new gun with the same features.

Even at present OFB makes very little of their firearms furniture on their own. They depend on a lot of Small Companies and other Erstwhile OFB units to make furniture like Nilkamal, OFB Dum Dum, Jai Durga Engineering Works, etc.
